Yuna
The nerve of that elf...
I don't know why I was so frustrated by what she had said. Maybe because everything she said was true. I never took my role as top student seriously. I mainly used it to get special privileges and mess around. I had so much natural talent for being a Demigod that I didn't consider developing my powers to grow even stronger.
I had kept up with everyone due to my sheer versatility. I was a jack of all trades and master of none.
And the fact that she knew it so well pissed me off.
I was in a large room of stone, unsure of why it even existed. However it was perfect for my training.
Yuna: "HA!!!!"
I thrusted my hand towards a stone wall and blasted it with my pink flames. The wave of fire was small compared to the stuff I had seen my Mom, July, do during my training. No matter how much effort I put into it, I just couldn't make my flames burn any brighter.
The same issue with my lightning. I tried using it to move fast, jumping off walls like in anime I'd seen, however my brain couldn't keep up with the speed, resulting in my face slamming against stone multiple times.
Training my emotion magic was pretty much impossible alone. I couldn't test it on anyone because we were all on edge already.
Yuna: "Lucas has probably got his issue fixed... Meanwhile I'm still on square one..."
I formed my twin katana and screamed, slashing at the stone to no success. I barely left scratches on it.
Yuna: "Damnit...!!!"
I kept striking the stone over and over again.
Yuna: "Just break!!!!!"
Finally, I dropped my katana and threw myself to the ground. Tears formed in my eyes.
Yuna: "F-Fuck...!"
I punched the stone, making my knuckle bleed.
???: "Not working out too good, huh?"
I turned and saw Brittany the elf standing in the doorway.
Yuna: "G-Go away..."
She ignored me and walked into the room.
Brittany: "Why're you crying like a baby? Get up"
Yuna: "Shut up!!"
Brittany: "You're a Demigod, Yuna. Get off your ass and act like one. You can't just brute force yourself into getting stronger"
Yuna: "What do you know..."
She scoffed.
Brittany: "Literally everything! I don't have a drop of magic inside me, you know"
I looked up at her.
Yuna: "H-Huh?"
Brittany: "It's true. I'm a royal elf, yet I can't even use magic. I'm technically the eldest, but Bella was chosen to be Queen because of her magic. I don't mind it much"
Yuna: "So what does that have to do with me?"
Brittany: "I'm the one who trained Lucy. I showed her all the ways to use her strengths to her advantage. She definitely won't be the strongest or fastest on the battlefield, but she's probably the most capable in your group, aside from that annoying slime..."
Yuna: "Still don't get how that involves me"
Brittany: "You seriously are dense... I mean that you won't get stronger just by upping your firepower. You took Bella's advice the wrong way. She didn't say you lacked the power needed, you just didn't use it correctly. You looked at your powers at face value. Like that electrolocation thing, it allows you to see around you without needing to actually see"
