However, she quickly snapped out of the man's gentle trap.

Si Nian hadn't forgotten how uncomfortable she'd been for days after last time she teased him. Just thinking about it made her legs go weak. It's true what they say about men in their thirties and forties; it's no exaggeration.

She admitted she had been too vocal about his shortcomings before. While everyone wants their partner to be good in that area, it can become overwhelming when it happens too often, leaving her exhausted.

Si Nian shivered, regaining her composure. "It's so cold. Let's go to bed quickly," she said with a forced laugh.

As soon as she finished speaking, she tried to bypass the man to get to the bed.

In the next moment, a large hand gripped her waist from behind. It was broad, warm, and firm.

The sky wasn't fully dark yet.

Zhou Yue Shen lowered his gaze, clearly seeing her delicate profile in the dim light. His tall, solid frame pressed against her from behind, and his deep, lingering voice came close to her ear. "Nian Nian."

Si Nian opened her mouth, speaking slowly, "W-What?"

Zhou Yue Shen hesitated for a moment and then said, "I have a way to keep you warm."

Si Nian's heart skipped a beat, instantly making her cautious. "No way, I refuse."

She quickly wriggled out of the man's embrace, tucked herself into the blanket, and closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep. "I'm asleep now, Zzzzzz."

Zhou Yue Shen: "..."

On the day when the older and younger children finished their exams and started their winter vacation, the sun unexpectedly shone brightly.

Although the air outside was cold, it was much better than the gloomy, deathly weather of the previous days. The mountain air was damp, and cloudy days often made it worse, increasing the risk of rheumatism.

As Si Nian finished bringing her bedding downstairs to air it out, she saw the two little ones bouncing back with their schoolbags, hand in hand.

"Mommy! Mommy, I'm done with the exam! The test was super easy today!"

The younger one, upon seeing his mother, immediately let go of his brother's hand and bounced over to Si Nian with a proud face.

Si Nian responded warmly, raising an eyebrow. "You're so impressive, Xiaohan. Does that mean you'll score eighty this year?"

The younger one, being modest, nodded earnestly. "I think I can score ninety and get a big red flower, bigger than Gege's." He made a grand gesture with his hands.

Si Nian smiled, though she was a bit surprised. She had seen the younger one's exam papers when she arrived. His Chinese scores were around thirty to forty, and his math scores were in single digits.

It seemed like he had a knack for getting all answers wrong even with random guesses.

In the past six months, although he had been obedient and managed to pass his exams, Si Nian was still skeptical about any dramatic improvement.

She looked at the little one in front of her—standing straight with his hands clutching his backpack and his head held high. If he had a tail, it would probably be wagging like a little puppy's.

"You did great, Xiaohan. Tomorrow, Mommy will buy you a toy gun!" Si Nian encouraged him with a pat on his head.

Xiaohan immediately beamed with satisfaction.
