Everyone turned in surprise.

At the door stood a middle-aged woman in a tailored suit, wearing red-framed glasses and exuding the aura of a career woman. She clicked her high heels as she approached, carrying a few obviously expensive gifts. A white sedan was parked outside.

The onlookers were astonished. Did the Lin family have such wealthy relatives?

Curious, they looked to Lin Mama for answers.

Lin Mama was equally bewildered and stepped forward to ask, "Hello, are you looking for my daughter, Nian Nian?"

She was certain they didn't have any relatives this affluent. Plus, the woman had just asked if this was Si Nian's home, so she must be connected to her daughter's side.

Yet, Lin Mama was surprised by the woman's age; she seemed to be around the same age as her, leading her to wonder why she was looking for her daughter instead of being a friend.

"Yes, you must be Si Nian's mother?" Chen Jie said, looking Lin Mama up and down in amazement.

Seeing the resemblance between them, she deduced that this must be Si Nian's biological mother.

The respectful address from the woman relieved Lin Mama; she felt a bit embarrassed. "Yes, please come in. I'll go find Nian Nian."

Chen Jie nodded, glancing around at the many guests in the yard, realizing her timing might not be ideal.

Just then, Si Nian stepped out of the kitchen and was surprised to see Chen Jie. "Chen Jie? What are you doing here?"

She hadn't processed that the middle-aged woman her mom mentioned was actually her former supervisor, Chen Yun.

Chen Jie smiled warmly. "I heard from Qian Qian that you got married here. I initially went to Happy Village to find you, but your neighbors said you were back home for the New Year, so I came here instead. I'm sorry for dropping by unannounced."

Lin Mama quickly waved her hands. "It's no trouble at all, really."

Curious whispers spread among the crowd. "Nian Nian, who is this?"

"Is she from the Si family?"

The guests remembered that the last time someone from the Si family visited, they seemed to look down on the Lin family. This time, however, Chen Jie seemed different.

Si Nian led Chen Yun into the house, introducing her. "Mom, Dad, this is my former supervisor from the broadcasting company, Chen Jie."

"Hello, I'm Chen Yun," she said.

As soon as she spoke, everyone was stunned.

"Wow, she's a supervisor? So young!"

"A broadcasting company? Is that the one that reports news on our radios every day?"

"Nian Nian used to be a broadcaster? No wonder she's so talented! I'm so envious!"

Si Nian ignored the murmurs and asked, "Chen Jie, what's the matter?"

"I won't take up much of your time. I actually came because I have something important to discuss with you," Chen Jie replied.

Si Nian nodded, prompting her to continue. "Do you remember the last time you went to the city to speak on behalf of Qian Qian?"

Si Nian nodded.

"Here's the thing: the principal at their school wants to invite you to be an English teacher," Chen Jie said.

Si Nian was taken aback. "Teach? Me?"

Everyone else was equally surprised. "Teach?"

Chen Jie nodded. "Exactly. A few days ago, the principal contacted me, saying that one of their teachers is going on maternity leave for six months. They urgently need an English teacher, and he reached out to me to see if you would be interested. That's why I came to find you."
