As the New Year approached, the Lin family planned to invite their daughter and son-in-law to spend the holiday with them, especially since Si Nian was returning home for the first time this year. With Zhou Yue Shen's parents having passed away early, it seemed reasonable for him to join his in-laws for the celebration.

Lin Xiao, who had recently gotten his driver's license, went to the pig farm early that morning. Initially, he thought it would be best to discuss the matter with his sister, but his mother reminded him that the brother-in-law, as the head of the household, should be consulted first. Skipping over him and talking directly to the daughter wouldn't be proper, and it wouldn't reflect well if word got out.

Even though Zhou Yue Shen had lost both parents, and spending the holiday with his in-laws wasn't an issue, it was still important to consider his opinion.

So, while delivering goods that morning, Lin Xiao brought up the subject with Zhou Yue Shen.

He was actually very grateful to Zhou Yue Shen. If it weren't for him, Lin Xiao figured he would probably still be doing hard labor in the town, never imagining he'd have such an easy job now—just delivering goods every day.

Even though Zhou Yue Shen was his brother-in-law, Lin Xiao always felt that Zhou had a natural air of authority, commanding respect without ever needing to raise his voice. It made people instinctively want to listen to him. The atmosphere among the workers was also harmonious, nothing like the backstabbing and cutthroat competition he experienced at the construction site before.

When Lin Xiao first met Zhou Yue Shen, he had been a bit worried about his sister. After all, when Zhou had a serious expression, even as a 1.8-meter-tall man, Lin Xiao found him intimidating.

But after getting to know him, Lin Xiao realized that Zhou Yue Shen only looked that way. In reality, he was easier to get along with than most people—and he treated his sister very well too.

He felt that his mother's worries were completely unnecessary.

After mentioning the New Year plans to Zhou Yue Shen, Lin Xiao added, "My mom said that since Nian Nian just came back this year and hasn't spent much time with the family, it would be a good opportunity to celebrate together and strengthen those bonds."

Zhou Yue Shen sat silently for a moment.

In previous years, they always spent the New Year at home. Although it was the holiday season, he would usually remain busy with work. He had never really thought much about the occasion. The house was always quiet during those times, and aside from joining the kids for dinner, he would quickly return to his tasks.

There was no sense of anticipation or surprise.

But this year, for some reason, his outlook felt different. He actually found himself looking forward to it.

The three little ones were also fond of the Lin family. With their mother around this year, it was bound to be much more joyful than before.

Si Nian had changed more than just the children's mood—she had also shifted his.

And his own.

With that thought, Zhou Yue Shen didn't hesitate and nodded in agreement. After all, if they were going to spend the New Year at his mother-in-law's house, it would be necessary to prepare some extra things to bring along. This was, after all, his first time spending the holiday there.

Seeing Zhou Yue Shen nod, Lin Xiao was pleased.

"That's great. This year, we can finally have a proper New Year."

In the past, while things weren't terrible, the family had to scrape by, even selling off everything just to afford Lin Sisi's education. They couldn't even bring themselves to eat a proper meal with meat during the holidays. Lin Xiao couldn't even return home for New Year's, as he had to work since the pay was double during that period.
