Chapter 5
"So, why are you here?" Diretsang tanong ko.
He blinked once before clearing his throat. "Mom sent me to go out with you."
"Go out? Where?" Tanong ko. My tone is mix of confusion and excitement. I like going out.
"Anywhere. You know that our wedding go on. It seems like napag-usapan na nila ang lahat kagabi and they want it to happen in a month."
"In a month?"
Tumango siya. "Yeah. I know it seems too soon, but it's long been due. Susundin na lang nila 'yung wedding plans natin last year so a month is actually long. Kaya lang umabot ng isang buwan ay para makapag-adjust sa schedule ang mga invited guests. You don't have to worry about anything because our moms will handle it. We just need to attend the seminars."
Tumango ako. I don't really know much about weddings so it's best that I keep out of the preparations. I don't even know what to prepare.
"So, are you fine with that?" Tanong niya.
"Yeah."
"Then why are you quiet? Is a month too soon for you? Do you want to back out now?" Nakataas ang kilay na tanong niya. Ano bang nakain nito at ang sungit-sungit ngayon? Although I don't know much about him since kagabi ko lang naman siya nakilala, but he's not that grumpy...okay, he's grumpy. Even Nancy said it herself.
Inirapan ko siya. "I actually think a month is too long. Aren't we just signing papers? Bakit may seminars pa? And what's to prepare about that? The documents? Why is the preparation longer than filing the marriage certificate?" Sunod-sunod na tanong ko.
I can see the almost unnoticeable shake of his body? "Are you serious?"
"No, I'm Solana." Sarcastic na sagot ko.
"You've never been in a wedding, do you?"
"I can't even remember the name of my fiance before, so why would I remember someone else' wedding?" Kung masungit siya, masungit din ako. Huh, ano ka ngayon?
But contrary to my expectation, he burst out laughing.
"Why are you laughing?"
"Haha. I think I know where we are going for our date."
I tilted my head. "Date? What's that?"
Muli na naman siyang natawa but he immediately composed himself. "Date is spending time with someone to bond with them. There's different kind of dates but what we will do is a couple's date. Now, change your clothes. I'll bring you somewhere."
I'm still puzzled by what a date is. Itatanong ko na lang sa kanya mamaya. "But what clothes should I wear?"
"Something casual or anything you're comfortable with."
"Okay."
I just grab what I saw on the wardrobe that's not too short at saka nagbihis since I already showered earlier. The maid came and fixed my hair. She just braided it before putting light make up on my face.
"Is this casual enough?" I'm wearing a white off-shoulder dress that covered my knees paired with brown ankle strap sandals.
"Opo, miss. Ito pala ang bag mo, bagay iyan sa suot mo miss. Inilagay ko na jan 'yung wallet at cellphone mo." Sabi niya bago inabot sa akin ang isang maliit na white bag na may long silver chain strap.
