( Chord Overstreet - Hold on)
Elisse rushed to her room. Tears stung her eyes. For the first time in a long time she felt an old familiar feeling. Her anxiety was taking over.
She automatically reached for her forearm. She ran her fingers over the old scars.
In the past, she caused them herself when she punished herself for her inferiority. She finally reached her room. She slammed the door behind her and headed to the table where she had placed a glass of water. She took it and threw it on the ground. She picked up one shard and placed it on her forearm. She pulled slowly and when she felt the pain she felt relief. Tears streamed down her cheeks, washing out all suppressed emotions.
Suddenly she heard the door open, so she quickly hid her hands behind her back.
It was Ominis."What are you doing here?! The boys can't get into the girls' rooms!" Elisse screamed at him.
Ominis came into the room , his heart twisting with emotion. He could sense the anguish wafting off her in waves, and his inability to see and understand what she was going through sent a shiver of helplessness trough his spine.
Seeing her standing there, tears streaming down her face, a glass shattered on the floor, and her arm behind her back instantly made his alarm bells ring.
"Elisse," he said urgently, moving towards her. "What are you doing? Let me see your arm."
"Oh, of course. Prefects also have access to the girls' dormitory." she answered on her own previous question.
Ominis slowly approached her, reached his hands behind her back, gently grabbed her wrists and guided her hands in front of him. He calmly took the piece of shard from her palm and placed it on the table. He then turned her left arm to reveal a bloody forearm. He placed his wand on it and silently cast a healing spell. Then he hugged her tightly.
Elisse remembered how Ominis had done the same thing in the past and started sobbing again, "I...I'm sorry...please" she spoke in between sobs.Ominis' heart ached as he healed the wound on Elisse forearm, the guilt of not having prevented her from harming herself eating away at him. Seeing her tear-streaked face and listening to her broken apologies only increased his own anguish.
He tightened his embrace, holding her as close as he could, his fingers gently tracing the hair on the back of her head. He spoke softly beside her ear, his own voice trembling with emotion.
"Shhh, it's alright. You don't have to apologise...I'm here for you."
She slowly released herself from his embrace and took a step back. "I'm begging you, Ominis. Tell the professors that I won't come to class today for health reasons," she begged him between sobs and started cleaning up the broken glass on the floor.
Ominis hesitated for a moment, not wanting to leave her when she was clearly unwell. But he knew that fighting her would not lead to anything. He nodded slowly, though he could not hide the worry in his voice. "Alright, I'll tell the teachers. But please, promise me you'll take care of yourself today. Get some rest."
I will. And don't worry, I'm fine now. I just need to be alone for a while. " she answered him.
Despite his concern, Ominis knew there was little more he could do. He gave a slight nod and turned towards the door, his steps heavy. "All right," he said in a quiet voice, "if that's truly what you want."
He paused for a moment, torn between staying and leaving her. "But please," he added, turning back towards her, "don't hesitate to call my name if you need anything, no matter the time. I'll be there for you."
When he was opening the door, she called after him. "Thank you Ominis, for everything."
Ominis paused, his hand on the doorknob, when Elisse's voice called out behind him. He turned slightly, facing her, and the corner of his mouth twisted into a soft, though pained, smile.
