Elisse's heart was racing as they entered the Gaunt mansion. The sight of Mr. Gaunt greeting them with his fake niceties made her skin crawl.

She tried to put on a smile as he hugged her and kissed her cheeks, but her heart was filled with dread.
" I hope your honeymoon was fruitful. I can't wait for my grandchild. Elisse, dear, go get some rest. I'll borrow your husband, we have an urgent matter."he said.

Elisse exchanged a fearful look with Ominis before Mr. Gaunt led him away.

Elisse watched as Mr. Gaunt guided Ominis away, her heart heavy with worry. She knew that she should probably obey and go rest, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly amiss.

She waited for a moment, then discreetly began following them.

As soon as the office door closed behind them, Elisse crept up and put her ear to it. The door was thick, so she only heard fragments of the conversation: "...responsibility.... power.... you must!..... kill..."
At the last word, Elisse jerked away from the door.
A memory was recalled from Ominis's mind as he was attacked by a muggle with a dagger. She shuddered at the memory of Ominis voice as he uttered the killing curse.

She had to rush her training to free him from his father's influence as soon as possible. So that he does not fall into the darkness that lurks in this family.

She turned to leave and then bumped hard into someone's chest.
"Eavesdropping is rude, Elisse"
Marvollo said with a smirk.

Elisse nearly jumped out of her skin at the sound of Marvollo's voice. She had been so focused on listening through the door that she hadn't noticed him standing there.

She stumbled back, her heart racing in her chest. "Marvollo," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I wasn't... I was just..."

Elisse quickly thought of an excuse to say and bet on Marvoll's arrogance and answered him, "Actually, I was just listening to see if you were inside." she smiled at him coquettishly, "I wanted to see you, I missed you."

Marvollo's smirk widened as she spun a tale to excuse her eavesdropping. He preened a little at her admission of missing him.

"Oh, did you now?" he drawled, his eyes taking her in. "Here I was thinking you'd be too busy with my brother to miss me."

Elisse looked at him thoughtfully and answered: "You know, I couldn't stop thinking about you since our dance." she answered him and a plan was born in her head. She will flatter Marvollo and try to get close to him to gain a information from him about who could have cursed Ominis.
Isidora told her that if she knows the exact cause and origin of his curse, there is a better chance of lifting it.

Marvollo's expression changed from one of arrogance to surprise as Elisse confessed that she couldn't stop thinking about him. It stroked his ego to hear her say such a thing, and he felt a flicker of interest in her.

"Is that right?" he drawled, moving closer to her. "And here I thought you were completely besotted with my brother."

Elisse looked deep into his eyes and replied, "Things change."
Suddenly the door to the office opened to reveal the surprised faces of Ominis and Mr. Gaunt.
Elisse quickly took a step back.
Mr. Gaunt said, "Elissa, I thought you had gone to rest."
Ominis' face betrayed disappointment, betrayal and disgust.
Elisse's heart stung but she tried to keep a calm face: "Oh yes, I was headed to the room, but I met my brother-in-law. I wanted to say hello to him."

Marvollo smiled smugly at Ominis' reaction to finding Elisse talking to him, loving the look of jealousy on his face.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gaunt looked between them all, and a slow smile spread across his face. "Ah, a warm family reunion. Lovely to see."
