Ominis sat in a chair his eyes closed, Elisse standing behind him, her wand pointed at his heart. Elisse was shaking.

Isidora stood beside her and placed a hand on her shoulder, "Elisse, take it easy. You'll make it."
Elisse looked at Isidora and nodded uncertainly.

She took a deep breath and breathed out, closed her eyes and concentrated.
She followed Isidore's instructions.
She felt the wand capture the magic of the unbreakable oath and curse that Marvollo had caused. Hearing a whispers of the ancient magic she opened her eyes to see a dark glow emanating from Ominis' body.

As Elisse worked her magic, Ominis sensed the ancient magic weaving around him, the curse slowly releasing its grip. A wave of relief washed over him. "Elisse, it's working! I can feel it." he said enthusiastically. His eyes were still closed.

Isidora handed Elissa a container. Elisse guided a dark ball of energy into the container. Isidora then closed it.

Elisse exhaled. She turn back to Ominis, looked at the clean skin on his forearm. It worked. The Unbreakable Vow has been removed. Relieved, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders from behind.
And now the second thing.

Elisse stood up, took a step back and shakily said, "Ominis, open your eyes."

Ominis remained seated, unmoving, still gathering his thoughts from the removal of the vow. He felt Elisse's arms wrap around him from behind and heard her shaky voice.

When she told him to open his eyes, Ominis tensed. He had known all his life he was blind. It was a fact as true and unchangeable as the sky being blue. The idea that there was a possibility of seeing again was both terrifying and hopeful.

With a mixture of trepidation and excitement, Ominis slowly lifted his eyelids open.

His eyes stung from the light, he had to blink to get used to it.
He slowly opened his eyes wide, his heart pounding in alarm. He didn't know where to look first, it was too much for him. He quickly closed his eyes and tried to breathe through the oncoming panic.
He could hear the disappointment in Elisse's voice when she ask:"Didn't it work?"

He heard Isidora say, "give him time..."

Ominis' heart continued to pound in his chest, the sudden influx of stimuli overwhelming his mind. He still could not quite believe what was happening. He tried again to scan the room, his eyes searching the space hungrily, trying to make sense of shapes and colors.

The fire in the fireplace had immediately caught his attention. He had felt the warmth and heard the crackle of flames countless times before, but now he could actually see the yellow and orange dance of the fire, and it was both enchanting and disconcerting.

Elisse watched him from behind as he scanned the room and realized that it had worked and he could see.
She was suddenly very embarrassed. She knew that he would turn around in a moment and he would see her for the first time in his life.

She began to have doubts. What if he doesn't like it? She panicked and started backing away. She turned and ran away.

Ominis' eyes widened when he suddenly felt Elisse disappear from behind him. He was so enraptured by the sights and sounds that it took a moment for him to register her absence.

He turned to look around the room, his new sight still adjusting to the complexity of shapes and colors. He heard the sound of footsteps hastily making their way out of the room and froze, realizing that Elisse had run from him.

Confusion and a pang of hurt filled his heart at her sudden departure.

"I think she panicked," said an elderly woman with a container in her hands, who according to her voice was Isidora.
