CHLOE'S POV
———————————————————————————
I woke up and glanced at my clock; it was around 5 in the morning. Why was I awake so early? Red had her arms wrapped around me, making it difficult to move without waking her, but that was okay. I recalled the events of yesterday, and an unsettling feeling lingered. I knew he was gone—far away—but a part of me couldn't shake the feeling that he might return. It sent chills down my spine. I wanted to get up and grab some water to clear my mind, maybe even drift back to sleep. Carefully, I extricated myself from Red's arms and crept to the kitchen. The dimly lit hallway made me a bit anxious, so I hurried. After filling my glass with water, I quickly returned to my room and saw Red still peacefully asleep. I sighed, placed the water on my nightstand, and laid back down."Mm," I heard Red groan softly.
"I'm sorry, love. I had to get some water," I whispered. She pulled me closer, cuddling me again, and I couldn't help but smile.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," Red replied, causing my smile to widen. She quickly fell back asleep, and it didn't take me long to follow suit, playing with her hair as I drifted off.
The next time I woke up, it was nearly ten in the morning. Red was already up, and I found myself laying on her lap.
"Morning, princess," Red greeted, her eyes sparkling. I looked up at her; she was already dressed for the day.
"Hi, love. When did you get up?" I asked, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
"About an hour ago. I showered and got ready—I was bored," she replied, and we both chuckled.
"Sorry for sleeping so long," I said sheepishly.
"Aww, princess, don't apologize. You were tired, and that's perfectly fine. How about you get ready so we can spend the day with Chad or something?" Red suggested. I nodded in agreement and got up to take a quick shower. I threw on some cargo pants and a cropped shirt, styling my hair half-up, half-down. When I emerged, Red was still sitting on my bed.
"Well, hello there, princess. You look absolutely beautiful," Red said, making me blush.
"Oh, stop it," I replied, trying to play it off as she wrapped her arms around my waist.
"But it's true," she insisted. I smiled, glancing down to hide my face, but Red gently lifted my chin.
"Don't hide your face, princess," she said sweetly.
"Oh, whatever, love. You look stunning as well," I countered. She wore denim shorts and a simple shirt, and her smile lit up the room.
"Oh, this old thing?" she teased, causing me to giggle. Our lips met in a kiss, and just then, the door swung open, revealing Chad.
"Oh my gosh! Every time!" he exclaimed. I turned back to him, exasperated.
"Chad, learn to knock! Dad!" I called out, rushing after him. Our parents were sitting on the couch, and Red watched, amused.
"What's going on, Chlo?" my mom asked, glancing up.
"Chad barged in without knocking!" I protested, still flustered.
"She and Red were practically devouring each other!" Chad exclaimed.
"Whoa, is that what you call a kiss?" Red asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Son, you really need to learn to knock," my dad interjected.
"And Chloe, you and Red can't be making out at this hour," my mom added, shaking her head.
