IN THE MORNING(Red's POV)
———————————————————————————
When I woke up that morning, I wasn't stirred by an alarm. I checked my phone and saw it was nearly ten o'clock. A few messages from Chloe had come in; she seemed anxious about her upcoming doctor's appointment. Fuck, I completely forgot about that! I quickly texted her back, reassuring her that she would be fine and that the visit was just for her benefit. She read my message right away and called me.

"Hey, princess. Are you still at the doctor's?" I asked.

"We just left. I have to take a pill," she replied. I had a feeling she understood why, but I didn't want to alarm her if she didn't.

"That's okay; it's to help you. How are you feeling? Are you doing any better?" I inquired.

"I don't know," she admitted. I fell silent, aware that this would take some time to help her feel more at ease.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"I'm fine," I assured her.

"You were spamming me and Chad last night," she noted.

"I was a bit worried when you hung up suddenly. I just wanted to make sure you were alright," I explained.

"I was fine. I just needed some sleep, I guess," she said.

"That's understandable," I replied.

"Why aren't you in class?" she asked.

"Uma gave me the day off; she thought I should rest," I said.

"Oh, okay. I miss you," she confessed, and I smiled at her words.

"I miss you even more," I responded.

"No, you don't," she teased, and I chuckled.

"Whatever. What are you up to now?" I asked.

"My parents want to talk to me, so I need to chat with them," she said.

"Oh, are you not with them?" I asked.

"No, it's Chad," He replied.

"And Audrey," I heard Audrey chime in.

"Oh hey, you guys," I said.

"Hey, Red. How are you doing?" Audrey asked.

"I'm good," I replied.

"That's great to hear," Audrey said.

"Well, I'm almost home, so I have to go. I promise I'll call you later," Chloe said.

"Alright, Chlo. I love you," I said.

"I love you too," she replied before hanging up. After she disconnected, I lingered in bed a little longer before finally getting up and getting ready. I braided my hair into two simple plaits, applied minimal makeup, and slipped on some leggings. I headed to Chloe's room and sat down on her bed when I heard a knock at the door. I opened it to find Uma standing there.

"Oh, hi, Uma," I greeted her.

"Hey, Red. I just wanted to check in on you," she said.

"I'm doing well. I just spoke with Chloe," I responded.

"That's good to hear," Uma said with a smile, which brought a smile to my face as well.

"Yeah," I agreed.

"How is she doing?" Uma asked.

"She's holding up okay. I know it's going to take some time," I replied. Uma nodded in understanding.
