THE WEEKEND(Chloe's POV)
———————————————————————————
It was Saturday morning, and the hour was remarkably early—around 5 a.m. I had missed school for the rest of the week, which was unfortunate, but the extra rest had left me feeling surprisingly refreshed. Red was sound asleep, her face nestled against my chest as I gently twirled my fingers through her hair. The bedside lamp glowed at its lowest setting, illuminating the pages of a book I had recently acquired. A soft drizzle fell outside, providing a soothing backdrop that was far more pleasant than the YouTube videos Red usually played.I was engrossed in my reading when one of our phones chimed, its volume startlingly loud and rousing Red from her slumber. She jolted upright, bewildered.
"What the hell?" she exclaimed. I quickly reached for my phone; it was mine that had gone off—a weather alert.
"What is it?" Red asked, settling back down.
"It's just a weather alert for later today. It's nothing to worry about, love," I reassured her.
"Why are you up so early?" she inquired.
"I'm not tired. I've practically slept through the entire week," I replied, earning a small giggle from her.
"That's true, but you really need to go back to sleep," Red insisted.
"I've tried, baby, but I'm wide awake," I admitted.
"I'm tired," she murmured, and I smiled at her.
"Cuddles?" Red suggested, knowing it would likely lull me back to sleep.
"Alright, fine," I conceded, setting my book aside and turning off the lamp. I wrapped my arms around her waist, while she linked hers around my neck. As I gently rubbed her back, she quickly drifted off again. I felt my own eyelids grow heavy, and soon I succumbed to slumber as well.
When I awoke, Red was already up, preparing for the day. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and sat up.
"Good morning, princess. How did you sleep?" she asked, strolling over.
"I slept well, love. How about you?" I replied.
"I slept well too," she said, and I smiled.
"What are you getting ready for?" I asked as she brushed a curl away from my face, causing me to blush.
"You and I are going out. I feel like, with everything that's been happening, we haven't had much time just for ourselves," Red explained, and I smiled warmly at her thoughtfulness.
"Aww, Red. That's so sweet," I said. She smiled and leaned in for a kiss, which I eagerly returned. I wrapped my arms around her neck as she lifted me effortlessly, her hands resting just below my ass.
"Red, move your hands," I playfully protested, feeling my cheeks heat up. She grinned mischievously, and I couldn't help but blush further.
"Relax, baby. Now you need to get ready," Red said, gently guiding me into the closet to choose my outfit.
"Wow, thanks for putting me in the closet," I teased, and her jaw dropped in mock surprise. I giggled at her reaction.
"You know what? Just pick your clothes," Red said with a smile as she closed the door behind me. She was dressed in a stylish black-and-white top paired with a red skirt, so I opted for a short blue dress. After selecting my outfit, I stepped into the bathroom where Red was waiting.
"Why, hello there, beautiful," she said, and I felt warmth spread across my cheeks.
"You can stop now," I replied jokingly, but she wrapped an arm around my waist, prompting me to look up at her.
