'Cause I don't wanna lose you now

I'm lookin' right at the other half of me

The vacancy that sat in my heart

Is a space that now you hold

❤︎ Two hours ago.

It was 6 PM when he asked.

Percy felt as if he was going insane.

Usually, when you ask someone to be your girlfriend, they say yes or no, a simple, quick answer. Percy however, had somehow forgotten how much Helena liked to make him sweat.

It was now nearing 8 pm and Helena had yet to even bring the topic back up.

He stared at her as she ranted on about how she had taken (kidnapped) Nico and Ethan on a beach, amusement park, arcade, and aquarium day.

Had she forgotten? Helena? No way. His girl's, or soon-to-be girl, he hoped, memory was so good it scared him sometimes. Was she doing this on purpose? Probably.

Should he bring it up or would she bring it up?

He narrowed his eyes at her, trying to get a read of her emotions.

Helena could almost see the cogs in Percy's head turning.

He asked her out when he picked her up for their mandatory must-not-miss monthly coffee shop date. She had decided to make him sweat a little.

She knew he was overthinking everything but she honestly could not be having more fun. Was it cruel? Yes.

But the guy had kissed someone else when they were dating—well, not really, but still. Rachel and Helena had laughed for a solid twenty minutes about how she had kissed Percy once and was so traumatised that she decided to change her sexuality.

Helena knew exactly how she would answer his question but seeing Percy this visibly nervous was a rarity and Helena was going to bask in it for as long as she possibly could. He had been getting better at hiding his emotions and she was totally raining on his parade.

He just better not bring it up or else that would ruin all her fun and she would be forced to give him an answer in a boring way.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Percy asks. "Stop smirking."

Helena blinks. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Now you're gaslighting me?"

"What does that mean?"

"It means you -" Percy cuts himself off and gives her a look. "You know exactly what it means. Stop doing that."

"I'm not doing anything," Helena said, frowning as she brought her cup of coffee to her mouth. "So, how's Paul?"

Percy gives her another look. "Fine why?"

"Fine? Just fine?"

"Is he supposed to be not fine?"

Helena sighs. "It's so difficult to gossip with you. See, this is why I prefer Eddy's company. He gets me on a spiritual level."

"Right."
