Nicole
Well today is Trent and Cassidy's wedding, I was one of her bridesmaids and it was a beautiful ceremony as expected. She's grown to be one of my closest friends over the last year. Trent works with Brian, one of his best cops. He's always been the wild one, new girlfriend every couple weeks type. When him and Cassidy first went out they had a terrible date and hated each from there on out. Fast forward a couple months they told all of us they were pregnant. It was shocking to say the least. I guess they hooked up a few times and had a little whoopsie. Although Weston, their not even 1 year old is the farthest thing from an accident. He is the cutest little boy. You don't want to be around him if you're not willing to catch baby fever. He's contagious.
I wanted another baby after Audra so we tried and got pregnant when she was a year old. Sadly, I lost that baby at 20 weeks. After that, Brian said no more. It still hurts, I still wish I could've at least tried to fill the void with another baby but he wasn't willing to go through it again. Sometimes I think he's more scarred from that whole experience than even I am, the mother.
It's about 7:45pm when they start to do speeches. Just the best man, Jason and maid of honor, Kristen had to write something. Of course she had everyone in tears talking about Cassidy and her rough yet powerful upbringing. Now it's Jason's turn and I think he'll be able to turn a lot of the tears into smiles.
"I'm Jason. Trent's best man. I'm gonna start off by just letting you Trent and everyone else know that they don't have to worry...I'm not knocking my girl up at your wedding but it's totally fine that you did at mine." Jason says and everyone busts a gut laughing. I look at Cassidy, her cheeks match her lipstick. She covers her face trying to hide all while still laughing through it.
"Sorry Cass. You know I love ya. Anyway, Kristen and I would also like to take some credit for getting these two together. But not the first time. Trent screwed that up. We take no credit for that mess." Jason says and pauses for the laughter. "Alright alright. I'm done being the funny guy. Trent. I'm so damn happy for you man, Cassidy, you too. You guys make a great team, great parents, and great friends. Congratulations. Cheers to the new Mr and Mrs Turner." He says and raises his beer, everyone claps and carries on.
Afterwards they open the dance floor up, the entire wedding party gets up to dance and have fun. They play a couple upbeat ones and then a slow one. I decide to sit down and have a drink at the table though. Brian's not really one for dancing and I respect that. Besides I don't even know where he is right now.
Everyone's having so much fun. Kristen, Cassidy, and a couple other girls are dancing. After I finish this drink I'm going back out there with them. They make me feel young again.
I scan the floor stop when I see Brian talking to Trent and Zach. His two best cops and friends. They're off to the side of the dance floor talking. The exchange looks a little heated. I continue to stare, trying to make out what it's about. Are they being funny? No, no they're arguing. It looks like it's 2 against 1. Brian being the 1. That's odd.
"What was that about?" I ask him when he comes back to our table, his eyes say it all. He's pissed about something.
"Nothing. You ready to go?" He takes the last swig of his beer and sets it on the table.
"What? It's like 8..."
"Yeah well I'm tired so let's go." He grabs his coat jacket and puts it on. I stand and get closer to try and talk to him.
"Brian. Stop. What's wrong?"
"Nothing! I wanna go, c'mon." He grabs my wrist but I pull back. He's never been this hostile towards me. If I'm being honest it's a little scary.
