Zach
"You know what's better than morning sex?" Trent asks as we're getting ready to head out to our patrol cars for the day.
"Makeup sex?" I guess because my ex, Maddie and I used to do that quite a bit and it was phenomenal.
"Close. Morning makeup sex." He laughs and shakes his head like he hit the jackpot.
"Interesting, never thought of that combo. You're not supposed to go to bed angry though." I call him out because that's what they say is the number one rule in marriage.
"Yeah that's bull. 9 times out of 10 we both wake up more willing to talk through whatever it was we were arguing about and resolve it. Cause you sleep on it and wake up less angry."
"Makes sense I guess." I shrug because like I said I really only ever lived with one girl that I would have experience in this area with.
"Turner! Carson! Now!" Brian's voice bellows from the doorway and slams his hand on the wall before walking to his office.
"Fucking A." Trent shakes his head and I groan too. Neither one of us wants to give that asshole the time of day but we don't have a choice. He's our boss.
"Listen you two. You guys gotta get better at ignoring what's going on in our personal lives. When you are in this building, in those uniforms you are simply just under my command. Nothing else matters. Got it!?" Brian scolds us in his office. We've been giving him quite the cold shoulder the last 2 weeks given everything that's went down with him and Nicole.
"Yes sir." I say and while I'm expecting Trent to repeat the same thing, he doesn't. I look over at him. If looks could kill...Brian would be dead right now. "Ease up man." I nudge him.
"Zach, get out. I need a minute with him." Trent says all while still staring at Brian. I look to him, he puffs his chest out at him and crosses his arms. I'm hesitant on leaving them alone honestly. Trent's got a temper but Brian's a big guy.
"It's okay Zach." Brian says giving me a nod to go ahead and leave.
"Don't be stupid." I tell Trent quietly before opening the door and waiting in the hall. I'm not going far. Someone's gonna need to step in if things go south. I really don't think Trent will jeopardize his job. He's got a wife and baby at home, he can't afford to. Now if he didn't have that...I could see it going an entirely different way.
When he comes out after a few minutes I study his face. He walks off, I follow him to the break room.
"What'd you say to him?"
"Just wanted to know when him and Cheyanne were screwing. Wasn't gonna ask her about it." He says and I don't even wanna know the answer. I take it wasn't when they were on their break by his body language. I still can't believe he was messing around with her too.
"So you good? Can't hit the streets with the wrong attitude." I tell him, watching him pour his to go cup of coffee.
"I'm fine. Fucking great." He aggressively shuts the lid and continues. "I'm obviously not jealous or whatever. I'm over Cheyanne, happily married and in love with Cassidy but, I don't care what girl it is or was. You keep your hands off her when she's with me! Talk about a shitty ass friend! I think I'm more pissed at myself for having absolutely no fucking idea. I'm a cop! Working his way up to be a detective! How could it slip right under my nose like that!? God damn." He shakes his head. He is really mad at himself and I don't know what to say. Clearly they were good at being sneaky and it just shows how much Trent trusted both of them. So that's what I tell him.

It's Friday night now and I am hitting the bar after work tonight. It's not the healthiest coping mechanism but I need to be around people after the week I had. I got no one to go home to but Nala, my dog.
