"Walk." I tell the guy who's clearly under the influence of meth. When Trent and I walked up on him he was talking to the Jim Thorpe statue.

"Stand up and walk dude." Trent adds when the guy bends over and stops moving.

"Sorry sorry brother Jim. Love you man." He says and continues to the car. Trent and I look at each other and shake our heads. Trent gets him in the back of his car and I grab a booking sheet to fill out. Hopefully this guy can give us some true information about himself.

When I get back to the car, I hear Trent say "pull your pants up man." And then starts laughing to himself as he shuts the door on him. He looks at me as I walk closer and shakes his head.

"You get a show?" I wonder.

"Yeah, a hard one." He says and we laugh more.

"Probably from the meth."

"Or he really does love Jim." He jokes and I chuckle. Laying the paper down on the hood of the car to fill out this guys info.

"Alright, sir what's your full name?" I change my focus to the guy in the backseat. This is a typical night on the job for me.

Trent and I get the guy back to the station and then head back out for the last of our shift. Both of us crossing our fingers for a quiet night.

"Cassidy? Why the shit is she calling this late?" Trent says and answers his phone. I look at the time, it's almost midnight. I'm going to guess she's up with the baby and pissed he's not home to help. That happens at least once a week. I turn the overhead lights on in the car to find my water bottle and granola bar while I wait to hear Cassidy start yelling at him on the other end.

"What'd she hear?" Trent asks her. He looks at me while he listens to her explain more.

"Okay. Alright. We'll head over, tell her we're coming." He says and gestures me to get driving. I put my stuff down and start the car. He hangs up the phone, tells me to light it up and proceeds to get his seatbelt on.

"What? Where am I going?" I say as I start to drive.

"Nicole's."

"What?"

"She thinks someone's in the apartment." He informs.

"Shit." I floor it. Worry takes over, I hope it's nothing.

"She said it's just her and she locked herself in her bedroom."

"She has a gun right?" I wonder, speeding down the main road. My heart is pounding. The adrenaline is abnormal compared to usual.

"Uh I don't know. You think Brian would've left her one?"

"Fuck no." I curse just as we get to her street. Brian's an asshole, no way he would've. Trent's looking for suspicious people in the area, oddly parked cars, people out walking the sidewalks.

"I swear if it's Brian being a jackass I'm gonna fucking lose it on him." Trent says just as I quick park along the street.

"I'll beat you to it." I say and we both get out.

"Shit, gotta call it in." Trent says as we're running towards her front door. He pulls his radio and I get my gun out.

"Police! We're coming in!" I say banging on the door. I know Nicole's gonna hopefully calm down knowing we're here but an intruder is who we have to worry about.

"Go, c'mon." Trent says pulling his gun. Before I kick the door down I check to see if it's unlocked and it is. "I got the downstairs." He tells me entering quickly and cautiously.
