"Mama!" Karla hugged her mother tightly, as tears rolled down her cheeks. "Mama, I really thought I would lose you. I swear!"
"It's fine, my love," her mother ran her hand on her cheek. "It's okay. I thought I had a terrible dream though. I thought I saw a familiar face..."
"Anderson Stone?" Karla questioned and her mother turned to her in shock.
"Was that real?! Did he really come here?" Her mother questioned.
"He did," Karla nodded. "I do not know why you passed out at his sight. It was really weird."
Freya turned away from her daughter in deep thought. Her hands began to caress her bracelet as she trembled nervously.
"There is no way that's him. It cannot be him. I didn't...I can't...," her mum was in a state of panic and could barely think straight.
"Mum, I do not understand," she admitted. "Why are you scared of him? What did he do to you?"
"It's not about what he did to me. It's about what I did to him," her mother had teary eyes. "I abandoned him. I left his house that day. I didn't know all that would happen."
Karla was perplexed. Her mother was beginning to scare her and this made no sense.
"What do you mean? You abandoned him, how? What house did you not mean to leave? Mum, you're literally confusing me right now."
"I...I...," her mum cleared her tears as her voice cracked. "I used to work in his home as a caretaker. I used to help in cleaning while his father paid for my hospital bills."
Karla was speechless. What the fuck?!
"But one day I had a medical emergency," her mother went on. "I had to leave before I passed out and asked one of the servants to check my cooking. I guess she forgot and it went out of hand. I didn't mean for his house to burn that day."It all made sense to Karla and she backed away from her mother.
"Wait...wait! Hold on here! You were the one who burnt Anderson's house?" She questioned.
"It was never my intention, I swear. And by the way my bond with him is priceless. I would never do such a thing to him..."
Karla wasn't sure of how to react. Wow! This all explains things. This was why he hated her so much. It all makes sense.
"Everything is falling in place," she nodded. "This was exactly why he wanted to pay for your hospital bill. This was why he asked me to marry him..."
"Excuse me?!" Her mother asked. "He married you?!"
"Yes...for a deal. He promised to help you and change our lives. This was how I paid for your bill. I was stranded, Mama," Karla explained.
Her mother was speechless. She could barely speak and her lips couldn't move.
"Mum, what's wrong?" Karla asked.
"This is going wrong," her mother shook her head. "You shouldn't have married him. You shouldn't do that!"
"Why?" Karla questioned.
"Why do you mess things up, Karla?!" Her mother scolded. "Why are you such a disgrace?! Sometimes I wish you never came into my life!"
Karla couldn't believe her mum would be that mad at her.
"But what have I done? What is wrong with marrying Anderson?"
"Anderson is my son!" Her mum snapped, and Karla was taken aback in shock.
"Excuse me, what?!"
"I gave birth to that boy!"
