Sean stayed out in his car as he watched Karla and her husband walk out of the police station. He wasn't sure why they would come around that hot afternoon. In fact, it was barely anything he expected at all.

As he waited patiently, listening to cool music from his stereo, he checked his wristwatch. He ought to see the inspector by that time, and if he misses that appointment, then he might be screwed.

Well, grace seemed to be by his side as he received a phone call from the inspector himself.

"Where are you?" The inspector asked with surprise.

"I am at the car park," he said, "I am trying to get a free parking space."

"Fine...be quick," the inspector ordered before hanging up the car.

Sean watched the couple car drive off, before stopping the song and stepping out of his vehicle. He adjusted his coat and made his way in, shining his teeth at his colleagues.

"A beautiful day to you, Mr Sean," one said.

"Thank you," he smiled. "A beautiful day to you too."

He walked into the inspector office, and shut the door gently.

"I hope I am not too late," he said as he sat before him.

"Not really," the inspector opened his laptop screen. "Karla and her husband took most of the time."

Sean widened his eyes with interest.

"Why did they come here?" He asked.

"It's just for some bullshit stuff," the inspector flagged it off. "Let's ignore. It isn't important."

Sean frowned at that statement.

"Well, I am handling her husband's case so no news should be kept from me," Sean said with a cold tone. "It is your duty to tell me what the issue is. Your silence can lead to you losing your job."

"And how will you do that?" The inspector asked.

"I will dive deeper into this case and ruin you," Sean threatened. "I will gather as much evidence as I can against you."

"I am not being cruel here," the inspector hissed. "I just don't think her case is reasonable. She is accusing her husband of abusing her, but didn't show any evidence against him."

Sean couldn't believe the inspector said that. His eyes widened in shock as he tried comprehending the nonsense the man said.

"So you didn't file a case against him?" He asked.

"As I said before, she didn't give any evidence. There is nothing to back up this case," the inspector sounded stubborn.

Sean gazed at him for a while and stretched out his arm.

"Can I see your phone?" He requested.

"What for?" The inspector questioned.

"No reason. I need to call someone," Sean admitted, faking a smile.

"I am sorry," the inspector knew him too well. "I can't let you touch my phone."

"Fine then," Sean shrugged and began to type a text on his phone.

"What do you think you are doing?" The inspector asked.

"You underestimate me don't you?" Sean asked with a smirk. "I just sent your information to the financial database asking for a report concerning your last transactions. In less than five minutes, I will know how much Anderson sent to you to keep quiet."

The inspector froze.

"Yes, sir. I am like that," Sean laughed evilly.

"You cannot use your detective powers against me. I am your freaking boss! You work for me!"

"Maybe not for long because you will get fired soon," his phone vibrated and a smile came on his lips. "10 million dollars? I wonder if that can buy her life back."

"You will pay for this Sean," the inspector threatened.

"No, you are the one who will never work in the police force for the rest of your life. Fire a restraining order against Anderson and get him arrested for the assault. We need to note down Karla's statement."

The inspector felt reluctant to push further, but he nodded with a frown. He reluctantly pulled out a brand case file and called one of the officers.

"We will be going to Karla's home to get her report," he instructed the officer who nodded.

"Will do sir," the officer promised. The inspector turned back to Sean.

"Are you happy now?" He asked.

"Not until Karla is far away from that man," Sean said. "Your words mean nothing to me now."

"We will get him arrested tomorrow, I promise," the inspector promised. "This could change the court's verdict and push the divorce faster."

"How reliable do you think the judge will be?" Sean questioned.

"Leave it to me," the inspector told him with a smile. "Trust me. I will handle everything."

Sean wished he never listened to him. The next day sent extreme rage in him. He started his usual shift at the station only to be welcomed with the worst news ever. The inspector had resigned. He couldn't keep working with the police force anymore.

"Damn! That guy is smart!" Sean cried in anger. Of course the poor dude had 10 million dollars and could start his life afresh elsewhere. This made Sean more worried for Karla. His tension grew in an unhealthy way and he could barely concentrate on his work.

"Who is his replacement?" Sean asked.

"Anderson Stone is working on it," one of the officers said with a smile. "The police department contacted him. He seems to have good connections with the national police force. We need a cop that will adjust to our simple lifestyle."

Sean huffed.

"Anderson cannot get involved. This is wrong. He is a civilian, he is not a cop."

"That's what the department agreed on. There is nothing we can do about it," the officer seemed nonchalant.

"What if he brings someone who dances to his tune? What if the system gets corrupt?" Sean questioned in anger.

"It won't," the officer assured him. "The police force knows what it's doing."

"No," Sean shook his head knowing he was screwed. "The police force have no clue what they are getting into. They are putting that woman in deeper danger. She will be so screwed if Anderson brings an inspector rather than the government."

"You seem to speak a lot about this woman. Just let her be," the officer said with irk.

Sean wondered why he expected their peanut brain to understand. He clenched his fist in impatience and promptly dialed Karla's number. Her number wasn't going through. His fear increased.

"Gather forces, we are going to Karla's home," he instructed.

"Why?"

"No questions!"
