The Triwizard Tournament tasks were approaching, and I couldn't be more nervous. I hadn't heard from my friends, only a letter from my parents wishing me luck and asking me to be careful. I could sense the commotion that was brewing as the whole school seemed mad at Harry, even launching a campaign handing out flags and badges that read "Potter Stinks". Of course, the ones wearing them the most were the Slytherins, but even students from other Hogwarts houses said they were only supporting Cedric, calling him "the only Hogwarts champion."
Draco and all his friends wore one of these badges on their clothes, mocking Harry every time he passed by. Honestly, I refused to wear one from the very start, even though Draco had asked me to several times.
"Don't you get it? Harry Potter cheated!"
"Draco, I don't think anyone would cheat to enter a tournament where they could die. Even I don't want to participate, and I didn't exactly cheat."
"Please, Angie, don't tell me you feel sorry for Potter."
"I don't feel sorry for him, but I do think he's suffering. His friends won't even talk to him..."
"So, if even his friends don't believe he didn't cheat, why do you?"
I rolled my eyes and walked away from him. Sometimes talking to Draco was impossible. That's just how he was when the others were around; when he was alone, he was different... Draco was almost always vulnerable, suffering a lot under the pressures from his family and the school. He wasn't a bad person, but he was someone who let others' expectations control him, making him behave in ways I didn't agree with. I could sense his true self and knew that beneath that bad boy image, he was someone who suffered. A lot.
In the distance, Draco was still perched on the tree, boasting with his bodyguards; that's what I called them. I saw Harry walking away, looking sad after arguing with Ron. I said I didn't feel sorry for him, but I lied. He looked miserable. The whole school seemed to have agreed to hate him, even his friends, leaving him more alone than ever. As if being the boy who lived wasn't enough fame. Draco started teasing him again, like he did almost all the time. I tried not to look, but I couldn't help overhearing the conversation.
"Why are you so nervous, Potter? I bet my father you wouldn't last ten minutes... Do you know what he said? That you wouldn't even last five."
"I don't care what your father thinks, Malfoy!" Harry snapped, shoving Draco with an anger I'd never seen from him before. "You two... are pathetic."
Well done, Harry.
Suddenly, Draco tried to pull out his wand to attack Harry. I was about to step in when Professor Moody drew his wand and turned Draco into a white ferret. I couldn't stop laughing.
"I hope you learn not to attack anyone from behind! You sneaky, cowardly liar," Moody said, bouncing ferret-Draco around in the air. "And don't you dare run to your father about this!"
