N/A: sad chapter </3
Warning: mentions of panic attacks and their symptomsDraco's POV
The garden was empty, and my heart began to pound with a force that hurt my chest. Angie hadn't returned yet. Panic took hold of me as I saw Bellatrix and Fenrir appear without her.
Where was she?
Had they captured her?
Or maybe... No, I couldn't let myself think about that.
Could she be dead?
My footsteps echoed on the ground as I approached Bellatrix and Fenrir, and the words came out before I could stop them, my voice carrying a desperation I didn't care to hide.
"Where is Angie!?" My voice trembled, but I didn't care. I couldn't think of anything else but the idea that she was alone, that they might have hurt her, that she could be lost... Or worse.
My father watched the scene with coldness, narrowing his eyes as he listened to me. He frowned, and his expression grew even more severe, more disapproving than usual. He began to huff, as if trying to catch my attention.
"Draco, this isn't the time for your sentimental concerns. She can take care of herself. Don't forget that her power is the reason she's here, not to indulge your adolescent weaknesses."
I ignored his words. To be honest, there was only one thought that mattered to me. Without hesitation, I repeated my question, louder, more desperate, moving closer to Bellatrix, who still wore that twisted smile.
"Where is she!?" I almost shouted at her, feeling the rage and fear about to overflow. "She was with you, why didn't you bring her back!?"
"The pretty little girl can take care of herself, Draco," she said, with a falsely compassionate smile, caressing my face. "I don't see why you're so worried..."
I felt fury fill my body, burning me from the inside. She didn't understand, she couldn't understand. No one could understand a damn thing. No one could see her as anything but a weapon.
"You said you'd protect her! You said nothing would happen to her!"
Bellatrix's smile faded, shifting into a look of anger. She stepped closer to me, raising her wand in a threatening manner.
"Watch your tone, brat..."
"Draco, please..." my mother said softly, grabbing my arm. "Don't do this. Angie will be fine, she knows how to handle herself..."
I tried to control my breathing, but the panic continued to choke me. My gaze moved desperately around the garden, as if, by searching hard enough, I could find her, as if my desire to see her could bring her back safe and sound.
A sound of apparition distracted me.
And suddenly, I saw her.
Angie was there, standing, with her clothes and body trembling. Her face was pale, and her eyes were lost in nothingness, as if fear had completely frozen her.
My heart raced, and without thinking, I rushed to her. I wrapped her in my arms, with a fear I didn't know how to express, hugging her as tightly as I could, as if I could protect her from everything that had just happened, from all the horrors that might have lurked, from everything she must have seen. I kissed her head, feeling the chill of her damp hair against my lips.
"You're here... Damn, I was so worried," I whispered. "Breathe, Angie, please, you're safe now, just breathe," I said, feeling my voice break.
She trembled in my arms but didn't respond, didn't say anything. She just stood there, staring into nothing, breathing in gasps, without even acknowledging my embrace.
