18: Please, I'll do anything...

I knew I had to come up with a good excuse to return to Europe without raising my parents' suspicions. They didn't even know what had really happened in the tournament; I simply told them that I lost in the final task and that a student had died. They were well aware that Voldemort was behind it, which made them even more overprotective of me, if that were possible. They knew Voldemort would be looking for me and that sooner or later he would find me if they didn't do something. However, I couldn't ignore his call, not if I wanted Draco to be safe.

"A school year adaptation? Angie, I don't understand."
"Exactly, that's what it is," I lied. "This year they're accepting students who also don't speak English as their first language, and Dumbledore wants me to help with that... I don't mind teaching, especially if Dumbledore asks me. He's helped me a lot... Maybe we could create something that helps more students like me settle in with the language, don't you think?"
"I didn't know you were so sociable..."
"Of course not! But you know how I am when it comes to helping, something I must've inherited from Dad, right? His profession isn't a coincidence."
"Well, you're right about that. It's just..." she sighed, "I'm just going to miss you so much."
"I'll miss you too, Mom, but you can write to me anytime!"
"We haven't discussed Ilvermorny yet; don't think I've forgotten."
"Of course not, Mom. It's just that... I don't want to go there. I'm tired of moving around," I sighed.
"Angie, you don't have another choice. If you want to be sa..."
"If I want to be safe, I know what you're going to say," I replied, slightly annoyed, "but I'm tired of running. We already left Buenos Aires because of this, I also left Brazil, and now I have to leave Hogwarts too? Mom, I like Hogwarts, I don't want to leave."
"It's for your safety, not about whether you like the school or not. You understand that, right?"
"Continuing to run for my safety doesn't make sense, Mom. Voldemort would find me anywhere in the world if that's the case. I'd have to move to another galaxy, and even then, I wouldn't be safe. I'm sorry, but I'm staying at Hogwarts."
"It's not your decision to make."
"Yes, it is. After all, he's after me, isn't he? I'm not going to let him find me without putting up a fight. Don't worry so much... I made friends at Hogwarts, and I know they'll protect me."
"Friends?" she laughed. "And how come you haven't mentioned any of them?"
"Well, there's Theodore... and Blaise... also Harry Potter... He's not a myth, you know?"
"I told you to stay away from him, didn't I? Don't you listen?"
"Mom, you need to understand that I make my own decisions, and some of them you're not going to like. I've already accepted that; now it's your turn. Tomorrow, I'm going back to Europe, whether you like it or not."

That was the last thing I said before slamming my hand on the table and heading back to my room with all my stuff. My mother didn't even like the idea of me being near Harry Potter; she'd like it even less if she knew I was getting close to a Malfoy.
