Chapter 7
"I can see something's going on"
Draco's POV
"Sure, now you want to talk?" she said, very angry. I think I really messed up this time.
"Rasmüssen, I..."
"Draco, you haven't spoken to me for weeks. You don't even greet me. I don't understand what you want to talk about now."
"I've been very busy, that's all"
"Yes, very busy being an idiot. I agree with you this time."
Did she really just say that? To me? Her?
"Wait, who do you think you are to talk to me like that?"
"No, let me tell you something. Who do YOU think you are to ignore me? For once in my life, I meet someone who doesn't care how dangerous my magic can be or how strange I can be, and then you just disappear like everyone else. How do you expect me to react?"
"Oh, please. Don't tell me you thought we were friends because you made me fly once, did you?" I laughed. "You're very naive, Rasmüssen. You won't do well in life if you keep being this way."
"Yes..." she sobbed, rubbing her eyes. "Maybe I am too naive. I was too naive to think we could get along. Please, go away."
"No, wait..."
"Draco, I won't repeat myself. Leave. I need to shower before dinner. I don't want to have this discussion."
"Will you help me tomorrow?" I asked, smiling. God, did I seriously come up with nothing else to say?
"What the hell is wrong with you!?" she cried even harder. "You made a scene in front of Theo a while ago, and now you come to MY room asking if I'm going to help you tomorrow?"
"Rasmüssen, listen, I... I don't know why I did that. I don't know! Okay? I don't know!"
Her eyes locked onto mine.
"If you don't know what you want, then I have no way of knowing either! Draco, please, if I have to repeat that you need to leave, it won't be in a nice way this time."
"I want... for you and me to get to know each other."
She went silent, and her expression looked confused.
"Is that all? Really, is that all?" she sighed. "Do you need more help to fly? Is that it?"
She's too innocent to be a Slytherin. We might need to check if the Sorting Hat made a mistake.
"No!" I shouted. "I don't need your help."
"Draco, tell me what you want and leave. I'm starting to get tired. I'm cold, I'm sleepy, I still need to take a shower. Tell me what the hell you want and leave; this is your last chance."
"I want to spend time with you."
I had just done something risky. I'm not sure if I did it right; not with the mission, I can handle that, but with her. I mean, she would be very useful to us. They already know she's here, and we know she needs a push to show what she can truly do, so we can see if she's useful for the cause. But for that, I needed to get close to her. Was I obliged to do it? Yes. Did I want to do it? Yes, but I'm not sure if this way... No, I can't mix things up. We need her. End of story.
I could see her look confused. She sighed and closed her eyes, waving her hands as if she wanted to say something but couldn't find the words.
"Draco... This is not the way to ask for things, you know? You made me look ridiculous in front of Theo."
