Like the sky being calm and clear, or harsh and dark, reflecting Zeus' shifting mood. And the sea being calm and clear or rowdy and harsh reflecting Poseidon's changing personality. Hades' personality fluctuates depending on the state of his realm, if too many souls are entering his realm at once or there's an issue in the fields of punishment, he can come off as... angrier.

This last weekend was one of those times, Nico was visiting for his weekly dinner by request, aka order, of his father. Let's just say, he wasn't in the best state of mind.

"Why are you here?" Hades sneered as Nico shadow traveled into the throne room, kneeling as soon as he saw his father.

"You requested that I visit sir, every weekend."

They both knew it wasn't really a request, Nico couldn't say no, and if he could he would be smited.

"I did? Oh well." Hades sighed, probably annoyed to have to deal with his nuisance of a son. "Just, go to your room until dinner."

The command washed over Nico, it was almost like charm speak, but even if every fiber of his being was against following the command, he couldn't resist.

Almost robotically, he stood up and headed to his room. He navigated the confusing hallways of Hades' castle; it had taken him months to learn his way around them when he first came to the castle four years ago. But now it was like a second home to him, a dark, forced, second home with a lot of skeletons.

He made his last turn and finally came to his room, a door made out of white poplar wood, decorated with a single skull, painted black.

He opened the door and walked into the large bedroom, it used to be smaller, Nico had never liked big open living spaces, it was too much to take care of. But after the jar incident he couldn't be in too small of a space. So, on one of Hades' good days, he asked for a bigger room.

He sat down on his bed and thought about what to do, he probably could have come to the castle later in the day, he was only coming for a "family dinner" anyway, but Will was busy in the infirmary and Hazel was busy doing legion training, so he had nobody to distract him, now seeing Hades' mood, he regretted it.

He looked around the room, he rarely visited now that he had a cabin at camp but, during the work up to the Second Titan War, he spent a lot of time here. You could barely tell now. The room was spotless, the most to show that he lived here at one point was his art supplies on the desk.

He got up and walked over, he hadn't drawn since before the jar, before T- that place. Nico sat at the table and started flipping through the pages of his sketchbook. There were a lot of pictures of his older sister, he always liked drawing her. He felt like if he didn't have a picture of her, then one day he might forget what she looked like, and that terrified him, so he started drawing her.

There were other drawings too, some of Hazel, Percy, Annabeth, Chiron, basically anyone that he thought had made an impact in his life.

He picked up a pencil. Should I draw someone? He didn't even know who he would draw. No one had really made him feel happy since the seven had returned to their lives after the war. Except...

He put the pencil to the paper and started drawing. He never really knew how he was going to draw something, he had been told that he had a natural talent by B- his sister, but he never really did anything. His hands worked by themselves, creating the art while his mind wandered.

'I wonder where I learned to draw?'

Nico didn't know much about his life before the casino. Sometimes, when he was doing things that he thought he had never done before, it was like muscle memory kicked in, things like drawing and cooking. He didn't do it much though, it made him sad, imagining how he learned how to do those things.
