*Sorry short chapter today but it's important and I didn't want to try and cram two into one because that would be over 2000 words, Enjoy :)*

Nico's Pov

Nico was actually happy.

He spent days with his family, doing all the things he never could.

He watched TV with them, conveniently ignoring the facts that demi-gods shouldn't be able to. He had long conversations and played tag. He read books and just hung out. He talked in Italian and people understood him. He cooked with them and had food fights. He was home.

But it wasn't right.

Every night when he finally went to bed something felt wrong. Like a piece was missing, or jammed in just wrong.

I don't belong here.

But he wanted to. He wanted to so badly. He wanted his family back. He wanted to grow up around them.

He woke up on his fifth day home to see Bianca hovering over him.

"Nico?" She smiled, "Finally you're awake. Mom's making cookies, lets go help."

"It's six in the morning? Why are we making cookies?" He got up and rushed to follow her though, not wanting to miss out on time with his mama.

"For fun."

Nico shrugged, that was good enough for him. He followed her into the kitchen where his mama was mixing dough.

"Hey," She smiled at them, "You two can go and beat the butter with the sugars okay."

Bianca nodded and Nico followed her over to help. He didn't know very much since it'd been so long since he'd baked but he could still help.

He cracked eggs and mixed the batter, pouring in vanilla and putting it in the mixer. After a while his mama came over and poured the dry ingredient in. It blew up a cloud of flour and Nico had to step away to avoid sneezing.

He decided to sit on the couch for a moment. He still felt a bit out of place. But the moment he stepped out of the kitchen Bianca and his mama froze.

He looked back at them in confusion, "Is everything all right?"

Then they suddenly disappeared in a wash of mist. In their place stood Hecate.

"I didn't want to have to do this, but my plans have changed." The goddess smiled down at him, "This would have been so much easier if you'd just stayed alone you know? But now you went and made friends, friends that are now looking for you."

"What do you mean?" Nico was confused, he didn't have any friends. The person who he was probably closest to was Hazel, but she left him in the jar to die.

Hecate just shook her head, "So I have a new deal for you. Come fight with me. You'll be able to be my lieutenant along with your roman sister. You come support me, and you can keep up this little life you have with your family."

"Wait what?!" Nico didn't want to risk losing his family again, "That wasn't the deal! You said I could stay with my family or come fight, either or. I don't want to go back to fighting."

Hecate frowned slightly, then her appearance shifted to Bianca.

"Are you saying you wouldn't risk it?" Bianca seemed sad, "You wouldn't just take that to come back to us?"

"I- Bia no." Nico felt heart broken, he didn't know what to do. If he said no then he would lose his family again. But if he said yes then he would have to go back to fighting again.

Bianca shifted into Maria.

"Do it for us amore. Do it for your mama."

That broke Nico. He'd never truthfully thought that he'd have his mother back. But now he wasn't going to throw it away.

"Okay mama."

She smiled, "Swear it on the river styx my child."

"I-" He hesitated, then decided to be smart about this, "I swear on the river Styx, I'll do whatever you want mother."
