Nico's Pov
Everything was wrong.
Nico stood frozen staring at the dead body in front of him, and wolves trotted out and dragged it away. The guy, Alex, didn't seem at all fazed that they'd just killed someone.
Annabeth had tried to lunge at Alex, Will was holding her back and trying to talk to Nico, but Nico was ignoring him. Instead he was staring at the green haired person in front of him.
"Why isn't he dead?"
Alex looked up at him confused, "What do you mean?"
"I-" Nico didn't know how to say it, he didn't feel Magnus' soul leave his body, it was like Magnus wasn't even dead, "His soul didn't leave."
Alex gave him a strange look, then shrugged, "I don't truthfully know what you're talking about. But knowing Magnus, he'll probably be revived by dinner."
While Nico stared at him in shock, Alex seemed to get a bit annoyed. After a minute he glanced over at Annabeth and Will, who'd finally gotten the girl to calm down.
"So I'm guessing you three are the guests he's been talking about?"
Annabeth nodded, still looking a little shaken though, "I-I'm Magnus' cousin, and these are some of my friends. Will and Nico."
Alex seemed to look them over for a minute, then shrugged.
"Since Magnus is... unable to," He smiled, "I guess I'll show you around."
He spun around and started walking. Nico snapped out of his shock and had to hurry to catch up to them, moving to walk next to Will.
Alex showed them diners and food courts. Spas and training rooms. He showed them floor 19, where they'd be staying, spread out between Alex and Magnus' rooms.
Then came the real exciting part. Alex opened a door and showed a large arena type area.
"This is the battle ground. It's where we train for Ragnarok. You guys could probably join in on the fights today, but I wouldn't recommend it. Einherjar can come back to life as long as they're in the Hotel, so they don't care if they die. You three might not be so lucky."
"Lo apprezzerei, mi farebbe uscire da questa stupida profezia." Nico muttered under his breath.
"Nico," Will said in a warning tone, not even turning to glance at him, "Haven't we talked about this?"
Nico shot him a confused look. There was no way Will could know what he'd said. Could he?
Will turned to him and smiled at his confused expression.
"Italian is the language of music. It's an Apollo thing."
Nico stared at him in shock. How much had he heard?
"So that's how you knew?" He finally put the pieces together.
"Knew what?" Will looked confused.
"Earlier. I realized this after you mentioned it. But I said, "Ti amo ma mi mette un po' a disagio." I'd instinctively said it in Italian because it was personal. I didn't know you'd understand me."
Will seemed a little surprised, "I guess I just instinctively translated it."
Someone clears their throat. Nico turned his head to see Annabeth staring at them, a wistful look on her face, and Alex just looking annoyed. He was the one that'd cleared his throat.
"I get that you too love each other and everything. But we kinda need to get to dinner."
Nico felt his face heat up, he'd forgotten about their audience. He just silently followed them to an elevator, barely noticing it when Will slipped his arm around Nico.
They got to the dining hall and it was packed. Like, hundreds of thousands of people. And they were all dead, and very loud. It was overwhelming.
Apparently Magnus had gotten revived before dinner, because he was sitting down at one of the tables already, already eating and "saving" a spot for them.
"Oh," He looked up when he noticed them coming, some food dangling out of his mouth, "Hey Annabeth, I'm back."
Annabeth smiled and went to sit down next to him. Alex sat on the other side and Nico and Will moved to sit next to him.
In just a few moments food was placed in front of them by some flying women. It truthfully looked delicious, but Nico wasn't hungry. He just played with it until Will got annoyed.
"Nico, you need to eat. Especially after shadow traveling."
Nico just shrugged, trying to ignore him. Then a fork filled with food was shoved into his mouth.
He immediately tried to spit it out, but Will covered his mouth, forcing him to chew and swallow. Meanwhile he was just casually chatting with Alex about whatever.
Nico was finally able to get his hand off his mouth, glaring at the blond boy.
"I hate you." He snapped.
"Love you too Nico," Will didn't seem to care about his obvious annoyance.
He muttered a few choice words about Will in Italian, knowing full well that Will could understand now. But Will didn't seem to care much.
"If you keep going like this I will strap you down to a bed and hook you up to an IV." The blond said to him as he finished his conversation with Alex.
Suddenly everyone fell silent.
Nico turned around in confusion, he saw Will and Annabeth doing so too. Then he saw where everyone was looking. At the very head of the main table, an old man with only one eye appeared.
He stood up and faced the crowd. He reminded Nico a bit of Zeus.
"We have some guests today," The man smiled, turning to their table, all the other zombies did the same, "Nico, Will, and Annabeth. Greek. Here to borrow some of my warriors to help fight their own battle."
Please say this man wasn't a god. Nico had enough drama with Greek and Roman gods, he was not in the mood for Viking gods too.
Annabeth stood up.
"You must be Odin sir. The king of the Norse gods?" She was obviously polite, though she did emphasize Norse a bit much, likely to remind him that he wasn't their king, "Back home we were issued a prophecy. In it, it mentions that allies will draw near from distant kin. Because of my relation to Magnus we thought that some of your Norse einherjar might be that distant kin."
Odin gave her a slightly skeptical look, then sat back down.
"Believe me child, I would love to help. But I can't send any of my people to go out and help you just because your little goddess shrouded in the smoke, is trying to capture this one's new home," He gestures to Nico, "He wasn't supposed to find a home anyway. My Norns have discussed with your fates to make sure nothing like this ever happens. This child of darkness is supposed to live in isolation. He's already disrupted too many gods."
The room erupted in objection when Odin said "child of darkness" but Nico was done with it. He was not about to let another stuck up king of gods try and decide what happens to his family.
He reached out with his power and used all his will to silence the einherjar around him. It worked better than he could have thought, within moments the room had fallen dead silent, he couldn't even hear anyone breathe.
He stood up and stared at the king. He could feel the raw shadows ebbing off him, but he truthfully didn't care. He was pissed.
"What did you just say about me?"
