Nico's Pov

Nico was confused.

The last thing he remembered was being in the jar, about to eat his final seed, but now he was... where?

He'd been sitting in the darkness for what felt like a long time, just existing. He hated it, being trapped in his own mind for that long. It made him remember things he'd rather not remember.

After three near mental breakdowns and vainly hoping that Percy might find a way to save him, something finally happened.

The fog around him seemed to get a shade lighter, gravitating towards him. Almost like it was being absorbed into his body. Then there was a bright light, Nico instinctively covered his eyes.

"Oh, darling." A soft voice spoke, she sounded familiar, but Nico couldn't quite place it.

He opened his eyes to see a lady with long black hair, she was wearing a long black dress that the fog around them seemed to be drawn too. It took Nico a moment to recognize her.

"Lady Hecate," He kneeled, "It's an honor. But may I ask, where am I? The last thing I remember was the giants jar, now I'm... here."

"I saved you child," Hecate smiled, "Those seven demi-gods that Hera chose weren't doing it fast enough. You would have died if they were any slower. And that can't happen now can it. You're too useful."

"Useful?" Nico was internally screaming, why'd he out his trust in Percy? He should have known that he could never trust anyone.

"Yes darling," Hecate seemed happy, it unnerved Nico a bit, "You're very important. Some would say that you might be one of the strongest of the Greek or Roman demi-gods."

"My lady? Isn't that Percy Jackson. He fought Kronos and won."

Hecate scoffed, "Yes, that Poseidon spawn is indeed dangerous, to his enemies. But his fatal flaw is what makes you stronger. He'd never hurt one of his friends, you though, you don't have any of those do you?"

Nico had to stop himself from glaring at her. It wasn't his fault he'd been rejected by both camps! But he wasn't about to talk back to a goddess, he wasn't Percy.

"No my lady." He muttered.

"Exactly," She beamed, "You'll be perfect for my plans. No attachments."

"Plans?" There was no way he was about to get involved in another war, he barely survived the first one, and in the second one everyone left him to die. Speaking of the second on...

"My lady, may I ask what was the conclusion of the Second Giant war?"

Hecate grimaced, "Those seven almost ruined life as they knew it when they woke up Gaea, but they somehow ended up winning and creating peace between the two camps."

"Oh," Of course they hadn't needed Nico, he probably just delayed them, trying to rescue him.

"But enough about them," Hecate clapped and turned around, suddenly they were in a grassy field, "Let's talk about your part in my plan."

"Um, ma'am." Nico was absolutely done with the gods, he would say just let him die already, but then he'd have to deal with his father, "Do I get a choice in this? I just got out of T- that place."

Thinking about it though, Nico didn't even feel tired, shouldn't he need more time to recover after going through that place and being trapped in an airless jar for a week?

"No darling, you're perfectly fine. Promise."

"I- Okay." If he could just find a shadow to get out of here, maybe camp out in Alaska and live as a hermit until he finally died.

"Don't even think of trying to run," Hecate turned around and started walking, suddenly they were on a beach, Nico didn't like this, "It's been prophesied, you will help me."

"A prophecy, about me?" Nico was shocked, maybe he actually would be important, maybe Percy might actually notice him if there was a full prophecy about him.

"Yes yes, something about shadows deep, silent chains, old wounds exposed, all that shit."

Nico just nodded along, still thinking about Percy for some reason, then mentally chastising himself about it.

"So, let's begin." Hecate turned to him, then they were suddenly in... Nico's old apartment.

Hecate smiled, "You are very important to my plans. So it's your choice. I've already taken your memories. So now you have a choice. You either come fight with me, we can take our own land and you can be my lieutenant right by your sister, or you can stay here, live the life you wish you had. Have the family you lost. Your choice."

Nico was still in shock, he looked around and saw that everything was just like he remembered it. Wait, how did he remember it? Wasn't his memories wiped in the-

Then he felt a sense of calm come over him.

"No no, you can be at peace for once in your life, don't ruin that with those nasty little thoughts."

"Okay my lady," Nico muttered, feeling in a trance, he walked over to the couch and sat down.

"So what's your choice my boy? You can have the life you've wanted, or you can go back to fighting and the pain you've been living for years now. Which one."

Nico looked around his house one more time, something was wrong, wait, no it wasn't. Everything was perfect for the first time. There was just one thing missing.

"Where's Bia? And Mama?"

"Oh, they'll be here soon. It all depends on your choice. Will you choose your family, or leave them like they left you?"

"My family," Nico met her eyes for the first time, his own brimming with tears, "Please give me my family."
