Nico's Pov

Nico was very excited for another family dinner.

Note the sarcasm

Will had completely forgotten that he'd been invited until Saturday morning when Nico had nervously come up to him and reminded him.

He didn't want to drag the boy into his chaos just because they were dating, but he knew that there was kind of no choice. Hades had said bring your boyfriend, so Will had to come unless they were planning on breaking up, and Will refused to go along with that plan.

So here they were, Bruce had been worrying about this all day and Nico had been reassuring him all day, though Will's stories of him coming back injured weren't helping much.

After Bruce had made sure he had packed extra ambrosia and Will had packed his own dinner, because even though Nico had insisted that the cooks would make him a meal he could eat, he was still terrified, then they were finally on their way.

Nico stood right outside the Manor. Will had also insisted that he needed to stand in the sun before going to the underworld, though Nico had guessed that he just wanted to delay their departure.

Bruce was standing next to him, watching as Will walked around the front garden like this was the last time he would ever see it.

"You'll be careful right?" The older man asked, "I know I don't know your father well, but during my first meeting with him he stabbed you. I'm not very keen on letting you go to this dinner."

"I'll be careful," Nico chose to ignore the 'letting' part and just focus on the fact that Bruce cared.

Bruce nodded, but he stayed with them until Nico finally dragged the reluctant son of Apollo into the shadows and transported them in front of the gates of Hades palace.

"Remember," Nico repeated to Will for probably the hundredth time, he really didn't want the boy to get hurt, "When you see him kneel. Don't talk back. Don't mention the Waynes. And please don't argue with anything he says."

This seemed to make the boy even more nervous, but they walked into the courtyard. Nico smiled when he saw how the bright boy looked so out of place in this dark and gloomy world. Though this might be one of Nico's homes, he was still glad that he had a reminder that the world wasn't so bleak while down here.

They walked into the palace. After a few minutes Nico realized just how nervous Will was. The lack of sun couldn't be helping very much and the boy was fidgeting the entire time they were walking.

Nico slowed down to match his speed and grabbed the boy's hand.

"It's going to be fine." He mustered up a smile, squeezing his hand.

"It's going to be fine." Will repeated, probably more to himself then Nico.

Nico smiled at him and led them to the throne room. He hesitated before opening the doors.

"It's going to be... intense. Okay?"

Will nodded and Nico opened the doors, leading them into the throne room.

He made sure to keep his head down until they got to the center where he kneeled, watching to make sure Will did the same.

"So you actually came?" Hades asked, sounding surprised, "I was expecting you to grab your little boy toy and make a run for it."

"Yes sir." Was all Nico replied with.

"And," Hades sounded a bit annoyed, "Did you forget to bring the girl?"

"You didn't request that we bring anyone else your majesty. But I can go back and get Hazel if-"

Hades cut him off, "No, there's a much easier way."

The god snapped his fingers and Nico glanced up to see... Violet? He'd been expecting Hazel. She suddenly appeared in the throne room, looking shocked and confused.

"Where the heck am I Nico?"

Nico just did his best to signal with his eyes what was happening, eventually the girl turned around, and seeing the god sitting on his throne of souls she quickly kneeled down.

"Good," Hades clapped and stood up, "Now we can get on with dinner."

The three demigods were suddenly transported into the dining room. Persephone and Demeter were already there.

Nico waited until all the gods sat before he finally took his seat next to Hades and across from Persephone. Will and Violet were sitting to his left and Demeter diagonal from him.

Hades waited for a moment, looking over the demigods, then he snapped his fingers and the skeletons came out with the food.

Nico heard Will gasp and Violet make a squeaking noise when they saw the help, but Nico was used to it by now.

They placed a plate in front of each person, and once Hades started eating Will and Violet both grabbed their forks, but Nico stopped them.

"They can eat this right?" No matter what he'd told Will, he could never be sure with Hades, "They won't be stuck down here?"

"Do you really think a son of Apollo would be able to survive being stuck down here?" His father responded, Will quickly put down his fork.

"Can they?" Nico repeated, determined to get an answer.

Hades sighed and waved his hand. The skeletons came back out and took the two's plates before replacing them with another that looked almost identical to the first ones.

"Now I swear on the river Styx your friends can eat the food directly in front of them." Hades sighed.

Nico nodded to the two, satisfied, and they began eating.

After a few minutes Will seemed to notice that Nico hadn't touched his food, he was just messing around with it.

"You should eat. I don't think I've seen you eat since I came to visit."

"I had breakfast this morning." Nico responded.

"That's not enough," Will responded, "You should be eating at least two full meals a day."

Nico shrugged as Demeter agreed with Will and praised his healthy diet. Her and Persephone seemed to like him, obviously.

"Eat," Hades commanded him, "You can't die just yet."

Nico shrugged, but rolled some pasta onto his fork, he was about to eat it when something suddenly clicked in his head.

"Can I eat this?" He turned to Hades.

"Whatever do you mean." Hades glared at Nico, "You should be eating."

"Earlier you said that my friends could eat the food directly in front of them. You specified them and their food and made sure not to make it sound like you were talking about me in the slightest." The pieces started to fall in place in Nico's mind.

"You had to switch out their food. You'd been planning on trapping them here but I'd called you out on it. But why? Why do you suddenly want to keep us here? I've eaten here countless times and you've never tried before."

Hades glared at him, then turned to his friends.

"Go back to that mortal's Manor." He waved his hand and a scared looking Will and relieved looking Violet were transported away. Suddenly Nico regretted calling his father out on it.

Hades turned to him.

"Let's talk son." He smiled.
