Back to Work

It's been two months since Eddie was stabbed in the kitchen and he's finally cleared to return to work. We both are super excited to return to normal life again.

I rolled over in bed and rested my head on Eddie's chest. "Good morning my sexy fire fighter" I whispered as I kissed his neck.

"Mmm good morning" he mumbled and pressed his lips against mine.

I jumped out of bed and threw his shirt at him. "Time to get up! Don't want to be late" I told him and he laughed. He sat up and pulled me by the hips back towards him. He wrapped his arms around my waist while sitting on the edge of the bed. He looked up at me and kissed my stomach a few times.

"You sure we don't have time for a little something first" he whispered as he kissed down to the edge of my underwear.

"Mmm. I wish, but we can't be late on your first day back" I responded as I lifted his chin up to look at me.

Eddie stood up and swayed as he wrapped his arms around my neck. "I love you" he smiled before kissing me.

"I love you too" I replied "now get dressed"

We arrived at the station together and everyone greeted Eddie with a banner and hugs saying welcome back.

"God, it feels good to be back. I missed y'all" Eddie smiled hugging everyone. He sat down at the table and we began eating breakfast together.

"So Eddie, what'd you do for the past two months to keep yourself from going insane?" Captain Nash asked and Eddie glanced at me and smiled.

"Gross!" Chimney said and I busted out laughing.

"Get your mind out of the gutter! Not like that" Eddie laughed.

"I spent a lot of time with Buck, and Christopher. They did a great job of keeping me company" Eddie replied as he ate his breakfast.

"Well I'm glad you are back to normal now Eddie"   Cap smiled as he began to clean dishes off the table.

"Alright, you ready to hit the gym?" I asked Eddie's and smacked his chest with the back of my hand.

"Oh yeah" he replied with a smile as he stood up. Only if you're ready for me to kick your ass this morning" he said as he pulled me into a playful chokehold.

I laughed and escaped his grasp and wrapped my arms around him "no, but you can beat my ass later" I whispered briskly before giving him a quick peck and walking towards the gym.

"Is that going to be a regular occurrence?" Chimney asked Hen as we walked by, which made Hen Shrug.

I stood above Eddie's head as he slowly lifted the weights off the rack. He slowly lowered the weights to his chest and back up a few times before re-racking the weights. "See, still got it" he smirked as he sat up.

I laughed and took his spot on the bench. I looked up at him and smiled. I bit my lip as I could see up his shorts a little bit. "Buck, focus" Eddie told me with a smirk. I laughed and lifted the weight off the rack.

"What the fuck Diaz?" I hear someone shout as I'm mid rep. It scared me, and caused Eddie to grab the bar off of me.

"Tommy, you are not welcome here!" I heard captain Nash shout from upstairs.

Tommy came charging at Eddie and looked at the two of us. "You called the fucking cops? I'm out of fucking bail right now and lost my job! You piece of shit!" He shouted in Eddie's face.

"You fucking stabbed me!" Eddie argued back as Tommy began to square up to him.

"Tommy leave!" I shouted with fear in my voice.

"Shut the fuck up Evan! You used me. You fucking cheated on me. And I'm the bad guy!" Tommy yelled pointing a finger at me.

"You raped me!" I yelled without thinking causing everyone to look at me. I felt the tears welling up in my eyes.

"Tommy. You better leave. I've already called Athena. You are not welcome in my fire house and not welcome anywhere near my men either" captain Nash said putting hand on Tommy's shoulder.

"Don't fucking touch me!" Tommy scoffed as he shoved Cap's hand off his shoulder.

"You're a piece of shit Evan Buckley" Tommy scoffed.

"Leave him alone Tommy" Eddie growled.

"Oh, you need your boyfriend to protect you. Your boyfriend is a fucking home wrecker" Tommy barked.

"Tommy. You are coming with me" Athena shouted as she ran over. She grabbed his arm and proceeded to cuff him. "You're under arrest for violating the terms of your bail" she told him as she shoved him towards her car.

"Thank you Athena" Cap told her sympathetically.

Eddie pulled me into a hug and held my head in his shoulder as my tears ran down my cheeks. "It's okay, he's not going to bother us anymore" he whispered. I squeezed him a little as I relaxed into his warm embrace.

"Buck.....is that true?" Hen asked softly as she placed a hand on my shoulder. I released myself from Eddie's grasp and looked at her.

"Yeah..." I sighed causing her to give me a hug.

"Buck I'm so sorry" she told me sympathetically as she let go.

"Are you guys okay?" Cap asked and we both nodded before he walked away.

Eddie grabbed face in his hands and wiped away my tears. "I love you Buck, I won't let anyone hurt you" he whispered softly before kissing me gently.

"I love you too Eddie" I said back as I pulled away.

Just then the alarm bells rang so we all jumped into action and hopped in the trucks. Eddie grabbed my hand as we sat in the back of the truck waiting to get to the scene.

We arrived on scene to see a car upside down with a tree on top of it. Driver was trapped inside and the tree had electrical lines tangled in it.

"Eddie, call the electric company and get them to shut off the power" Cap shouted as he assessed the scene.

"Hen, Chimney! Can you see the driver? How is she?" He shouted at them.

"Cap! Cap! There's a child in that tree!" I screamed and started grabbing gear.

"Buck! The powers still on. Stay back" Cap yelled at me.

"I can reach him. Don't worry" I shouted back as I climbed up an adjacent tree.

I carefully laid across a branch and lowered myself onto the tree with the kid. "Hey, I'm Buck. We are gonna get you out of here" I smiled at the kid.

"I'm scared, I want my mom" the kid whined.

"Hey, we are gonna get you down and back to your mom, I promise" I told him as I wrapped a safety rope around him.

"Buck! What the hell are you doing?" Cap yelled at me.

"I gotta get him down!" I hollered back as I threw the rope around a limb on an adjacent tree.

I anchored the rope to myself, and the tree we were standing on and looked at the other tree. "Okay buddy, you're gonna jump as close to that tree as possible. This rope will catch you. I promise" I told him as he looked terrified. The child inched toward the edge of where we were standing and took a few deep breaths before leaping forward. As he jumped, I pulled my side of the rope down as fast as possible to pull him upwards away from the debris and power lines.

I laughed in admiration as I watched the kid dangle there as I slowly lowered him to the ground. "Alright genius, how are you getting down now?" Chimney cocked from below me.

"Eh, it won't be that bad. I'll just sit and wait" I laughed back at him as I walked up the tree. "You guys got thi-" I was cut off by a piece of bark below me slipping causing me to trip. I fell backwards onto the tree and felt a pulse run through my body as I started shaking.

"Evan!" I could hear Eddie scream as my eyes closed.
