The Next Step

Eddie's POV:
Lilah woke up a few times last night and Buck did an amazing job at getting up with her. He truly is an amazing dad. I couldn't have asked for a better partner. He's perfect in every way possible. I heard Lilah begin to fuss over the monitor so I rolled over and looked at Buck sleeping peacefully. I smiled as I carefully got out of bed and went into Lilah's room.

I walked into the room and picked her up carefully. I smiled as I carefully rocked her back and forth. "Hey beautiful girl, you ready for some breakfast?" I whispered softly as I walked out to the kitchen. I held her in one arm as I made her a bottle. I held her against my bare chest as I fed her.

"Dad, what's for breakfast?" Chris yawned as he walked into the living room.

"Uhh, how's cereal sound?" I asked from my seat on the couch.

"Cereal sounds good" he responded and headed for the kitchen to make himself a bowl of cereal.

Lilah finished her bottle so I got up and headed for the kitchen. I set the bottle on the counter and sat down next to Chris at the table while burping her. "Hey buddy, I wanna talk to you about something" I told Chris quietly.

"What?" He asked as he shoved more cereal in his mouth.

"Are you happy with Buck living with us, and now Lilah?" I asked carefully.

"Yeah, I love Buck. He's my dad too. And I'm happy to have a sister now" he responded with a smile.

"How would you feel if I asked Buck to marry me?" I whispered with a smile then watched the biggest smile grow on his face.

"That would be so cool!" He said excitedly and I playfully shushed him.

"You're okay with it?" I chuckled and he nodded happily. "How about you come with me today, and we pick out a ring together so I can ask him?"

"Okay! Can we go now?" He asked practically jumping up.

"Let's wait until Buck wakes up, he had a long night with Lilah" I chuckled as I bounced Lilah.

"Good morning" Buck yawned as he walked into the kitchen for some coffee. He leaned over and gave me a quick kiss before grabbing Lilah "how's my beautiful lady?" He said in baby talk to Lilah. "Morning buddy" he smiled as Chris too before ruffling his hair.

"Hey, Chris and I are gonna go out today to get him some new school clothes. You gonna be okay here today with Lilah?" I asked as I began to wash the dishes.

"Yeah, we'll be just fine. I'm gonna take her over to Maddie's to meet her today" he explained as he bounced her up and down in his arms.

"Sounds good, Chris and I are gonna get going then. I love you, be safe and have fun with her. Oh! Don't forget to sign the papers and drop those off too" I explained as I grabbed a shirt and some shoes from the laundry.

"I'll drop those off on the way to maddie's" he responded before I gave him a quick kiss as I grabbed my keys.

Chris and I arrived at the jewelry store and began browsing rings. "Who's the lucky lady we are shopping for today?" The clerk asked with a smile.

"My dad is gonna ask my other dad to marry him today!" Chris explained excitedly.

"Oh well congratulations! I'm so sorry for misinterpreting that. Have a look around and let me know if you need any help" the clerk smiled politely then walked away.
