I watched as Kai and Forth's mum chatted, and she looked over at me, surprised I came over without letting her know. She told Kai to go bring some of the new toys to her so they could play together. Kai nodded and went off to pick something while I looked at her. I went to sit next to her.

"You know, he is your son. He is just being honest, which is not wrong. And I know you want the best for him, but it is important he is happy too, yes?"

She stared at me, and I chuckled. "He is the one who invited us for a play date. See, how well your son knows you."

"Do not lie, Park. How long have I known you for? Since you and my boy have been in school since 20. I am very sure this is your idea, isn't it? He must have called you for ideas on how to make amends with me, didn't he?"

I just chuckled, looking at her sheepishly. She looked at Forth and finally called him over, smacking his head for soliciting me and a 4-year-old in his ideas. Forth was about to apologize when Kai came over. He placed his hands on Forth and cocked his head, looking at him.

"Will you play?" my boy looked at him with his big round eyes, a small smile on his face. Forth looked at him for a bit before nodding his head, uttering "What do you wanna play, kid?"

"Dinasaurrrrr." Kai called out loudly, roaring for effect. Forth chuckled as he took Kai by his hand, correcting him gently that it was Dinosaurs and that they could play. Both of them went off, with his mom and me looking on.

"Now, do you know why I am so insistent my son should marry you? Only you know him well enough, and he will love Kai with all of his heart."

"But he doesn't realize it. And I cannot let Kai to receive halfhearted love, especially when he is getting so daily from my dad. He deserves better. Maybe, someday Forth will realize he does love kids. Maybe he may not. But I cannot let my Kai be his experiment. I hope you understood too, Mae."

Forth's mum nodded, patting my knees gently, but still thanking me for coming today. I smiled, waving away her apology. The fact remained that she loved Kai so much, it did not seem fair to keep him away from her. Plus, I turned to look at Forth and Kai playing together. Even though Forth was just humoring Kai, I could not admit but they did look cute together. And it warmed my heart that Kai was finally getting the love and attention he deserves as the wonderful kid he was, other than from me.

Forth's mum and I soon joined them too and we played for a good 2 hours before breaking up for lunch. She went to get the food ready while I told Kai we had to wash up. He nodded, packing the toys away, with Forth looking on impressed. I was about to bring Kai to wash his hands when Forth held onto my wrist, stopping me.

"Can I bring him?"

"Sure, go on ahead."

Kai bounded excitedly to Forth who carried him, and they went to wash their hands together. Both boys came back a few minutes later, grinning away about something. During lunch, Kai sat with me, and I encouraged him to try everything as usual, feeding him the stuff he was a bit resistant to. Kai was a good kid who usually ate everything but some stuff he was picky over; if I fed him, he would eat it. I would take it off his plate, put it on my mine and feed him. Forth just watched us quietly and I could feel his eyes on me. Midway through the meal, I looked up at Forth.

"Is everything ok? You have been looking at us for quite a bit."

"No, it's just that, you still do what you did in university. You take things that he doesn't eat and put it on your own plate. But here, you feed him, encouraging him to try. But you did not do that in university with us..."

"Uhm, because he is 4, Forth. He should try everything. When I knew you, you were 20 and head hazer. Pretty sure you would hit me if I did that to you. You aren't a child, right!"

Forth just smiled but did not say anything. I cocked my head, looking at him. Was he jelling over a 4-year-old? His mother did not say anything but just looked on quietly at us, smiling to herself. We continued eating but as usual, Forth kept away all of the coriander as he always did. I rolled my eyes, taking it from his plate and placing it on mine. However, for a change, I looked at him, forking a tiny spoonful and fed him, encouraging him to try.

"Come on Forth, coriander is good for you. Try some, show Kai it is yummy. Right, Kai?" Kai nodded excitedly and looked at Forth eagerly. Forth looked at me but instead of the glare I expected, he just blushed lightly, nodding his head as he held my hand and ate off the fork. I was stunned and pulled away once he was done, looking away at Kai instead, who clapped for him.

If I had turned to look, I would have seen the look of amusement on Forth's mum's face and the blush on Forth's face.
