Forth and I continued chatting till like 7pm when Kai finally woke up, starving. I got him and brought him down for dinner. Forth's dad was around, too, so it was the entire family at dinner.

Kai and I sat down, and Kai just looked at Forth's dad curiously since it was only his 2nd time seeing him. He just looked at him quietly before smiling at him widely. Forth's dad was so taken by him and called him over. He trotted over to him after looking at me for permission. That tiny bugger sat on Forth's dad's lap for dinner like a prince the entire time and was fed by him and the mom. I rolled my eyes, wanting to ask Kai to stop being a brat but Forth stopped me, shaking his head.

"Just this once please. They enjoy it too." He whispered. I looked at Forth's parents who were enjoying it so I let it slide. Forth smiled at me, patting my knees gently, thanking me. I didn't say anything, and just helped myself to the food. Forth took stuff I would eat and placed it on my plate for me and made sure my glass was filled just like old times. It was like as if time barely had moved for us if we didn't realize about Kai.

Once dinner was over, Forth and I offered to wash up while his parents took Kai to the living room to watch a movie.

"Tomorrow I will send you guys home ok?"

I knew Forth wouldn't take no for an answer so I nodded in agreement. He smiled at me happily like a child. I turned away to wipe the dishes as a smile of my own broke out. He's always been like this since university and hasn't changed at all.

Once we were done, I had a work call so I used his study room to attend to it. By the time I ended, it was easily 2 hours later. Shoots. I went to the living room to look for them but it was empty. I went up to Forth's room and saw both Kai and him fast asleep on the bed.

I stood at the entrance watching them for a bit.

"Are they asleep, dear?" Forth's mom uttered softly standing next to me.

"Yes Mae. Now I can't even bring Kai to the guest room because if one woke up, he will cry murder and if I woke the other up, he will easily murder me."

She laughed out. "Just let them be. You can join on the other side. There is enough space."

"I..I'm not sure Mae. Is that even ok?"

Forth's mum looked at me.

"Why don't you answer that yourself, Park? You know the answer, don't you? My boy may be silly but you know once his heart is in the right place, it wouldn't budge. I know he's starting to see the irony of his earlier words but he has to live with it because this is something that affects Kai. And we all agree that Kai must be happy. But ask yourself. Isn't it ok to do things for yourself for once too?"

"Mae.."

"I would love you as a son. Not just a son in law. It's my child's dumbness that its not meant to be. But I can tell you mean a lot to Forth. And he to you. Just embrace it tonight."

I just hugged her before wishing her good night and heading to bed. I stood at the bed, watching both of them sleep. I leaned over to kiss Kai good night.

And Forth too.
