"I bombed that exam" I groaned, lifting my hands to cover my face before another pair of hands pulled them back down. Tom placed my hands back down onto the lunch table as he spoke.
"No, you did fine I'm sure," he assured. "And if you did, when did you ever care for your grades?"
"When I found out they could kick me out of choir" I sighed. He chuckled, causing me to give him a confused look. "What?"
"You don't need choir, Alex. With your voice, I'm sure they wouldn't even consider kicking you out. And if they did, it wouldn't matter. Your voice is great enough to win American Idol or something" he laughed. I smiled and leaned across the table to give him a hug.
"Thanks, Tom"
Just then, when we pulled apart from the hug, I was called down to the front office by the intercom. A loud sigh escaped my lips as I stood.
"What did you do this time?" Tom laughed. I shrugged.
"I'm not too sure" I replied before pushing out of the cafeteria and sprinting down the hall to the office, all the while receiving yells from teachers about not running in hallways.
Once I stood outside the door, I walked inside where I was taken to the principals office.
"Ms. Taylor," he began almost accusingly.
"Yes?"
"I've received news from a few students stating that you had cigarettes in this school. Can you confirm that?"
"No" I stated simply. "Who said that?"
"Can't say" he replied, resulting in me practically burning with anger. "Why can't you confirm, exactly?"
"Its not true"
"How can I believe you?" He shot back, only resulting in my veins pulsing with more anger.
"I don't even smoke. Why do you believe these students anyway huh? What makes them so believable and not me?" I seethed.
"Did you ever smoke?"
"I did. Did. I stopped. Simply. As. That." My anger went in a flow with my voice. Anybody could tell how mad I was at the moment.
"I may have to suspend you" he stated, completely leaving my words to be unacknowledged.
"You've gotta be kidding me" I yelled, slamming my fist down onto his desk.
"Leave. Now!" He ordered. I rolled my eyes.
"Gee, no problem!" I yelled once more before storming out of the office, ignoring the concerned looks I received.
My blood was pulsing as I yanked all of my stuff out of my locker, slamming it as hard as I could shut before running out of the school with threatening tears.
My reasoning of crying, I'm not too sure. I guess I felt... Betrayed. Like my opinion didn't matter, I didn't have a say. Apparently I was always the villian, due to my reputation. And that made no sense to me.
A text signal from my phone brought my attention away from a nearby tree I stared at while walking. I stopped and whipped my phone out, seeing a text from Stephanie.
Steph:
hey kiddo. The school just said you were suspended. Just stay there and I'll come get you, okay?
Alex:
Yeah, cool.
A smile formed on my lips as I noticed Stephanie had no questions. That rarely ever happened, because there were always questions.
I sat perched upon a short brick wall connected to the school building, listening to my dads band, Slipknot. Tears were slowly rolling down my cheeks, for both the fact I missed him, and the reason I sat here right now.
And then, another great thing happened. My phone rang, signaling I had a call from my dad. I rushed to answer it, and eagerly waited to hear my dads voice.
"Hey sweetheart" he greeted, sounding both happy and worried.
"Hi daddy" I sniffled.
"Hey, what's wrong? The school called..." He trailed off.
"Yeah. Is that why you called?" I would be lying if I said I would be bummed out if that's the only reason he called.
"Well, yeah. Kinda. But first, why are you crying?"
"I just, feel so betrayed, dad. I'm always the villian. I'm never believable. No matter if I am telling the downright truth, nobody cares. Its always me" I sobbed.
"Hey, hey," I could imagine him shaking his head. "Don't think that. I believe you. They don't have to, as long as you know the truth, that's all that matters, okay?" He said.
"Dad, you don't even know what happened" I stated pointedly. He chuckled.
"Don't have to. I know you aren't lying" a smile could practically be heard in his voice.
I giggled.
"Thanks, dad. So, what are the reasons you called?"
"Well, about the school thing, and I wanted to tell you we are headed back, but it may be a few more days"
"Oh," I said, kinda sad about the fact he would miss my choir solo tomorrow. "Cool. I'm excited to see you all"
"Me too, sweetheart. Me too" he sighed.
Just then, Stephanie pulled up and honked at me.
"Hey, uhm. Steph just got here, so I'm gonna jump off. Bye dad" I said.
"Bye, Alex. I love you"
"Love you too" I replied before hanging up and sprinting over to the car, jumping in.
"Was that your dad?" She inquired. I laughed.
"Yep"
She smiled and then asked the question.
"Why were you suspended?"
"They think I had cigarettes or something" I replied, earning a groan from Stephanie.
"Idiots" she murmured. I laughed.
We sat in a comfortable silence the whole ride to... The mall?
"Why are we here?" I asked.
"We can dye your hair like you wanted to" she said in a 'duh' tone. A wide grin painted its way onto my face as I raced after her into the mall. We entered the same hair place where I once again, dyed my hair, only this time it was half purple and half blue.

"Looks great as always, Alex" Steph laughed. I smiled as we entered the house. The day was nowhere near done, but I was too exhausted to care, so I went upstairs and slept the day away, allowing Stephanie extra hours to herself.
