A gush of cold air on my feet awoke me from my rather peaceful sleep. I shot up out of bed, nearly screaming at the feeling. My eyes settled on my dad who was holding a toy mini fan at the foot of my bed. With a glare, I pushed past him and over to my dresser.

"So friendly" I muttered. He chuckled and walked over and stood next to me, standing above me by at least five or six inches.

"Get ready, child. I'm taking you to school" he said, patting my shoulder and exiting my bedroom. I smiled and continued doing my eyeliner.

After yet another yell from my dad downstairs, I finally threw my bag over my shoulder and came bounding down the steps in my black leggings and plain red hoodie that wasn't actually mine. It belonged to a friend I had awhile back before I came here, and I may have just kept it.

I slid past my dad and hurriedly slipped into my black and white converse.

"Geez Alex, calm down" my dad said as we rushed out the door and into the car.

"I can't" I replied, plopping into the passenger seat as my dad finally started the car. I urged him to hurry, resulting in him moving slower. "Very mature, dad"

"Psh, since when was I mature?" He laughed. I grinned while sinking back into my seat.

"Guess that's why I'm not, either"

"Exactly"

We stayed silent after that, although it wasn't uncomfortable. Bullet for my Valentine was playing softly from the car radio, so we both just acknowledged the fact it was playing rather than anything else.

Once we came close to school, I sat back up in my seat and went to reach for my bag in the back seat before I noticed my dad had completely passed school.

"Uh, dad. You kinda just passed the school" I turned to face him.

"I know"

I gave him a confused look due to his answer. With a shake of my head, I once more settled in my seat, and allowed my dad to continue taking me wherever.

I shot him yet another confused look when he pulled into an empty parking lot.

"Uh, what are you-?" I inquired, but was cut off when my dad got out of the car. My eyes followed him as he walked to my side of the car. He motioned me to switch seats so he could take mine.

Once he was in the car again and I was behind the wheel, I once again questioned him.

"Dad, what are we-" he cut me off again.

"I'm reminding you how to parallel park" he said simply.

My eyes widened. How did he remember that I forgot?

"Uhm. Okay, I... Uh. How?" I said, turning to face him. He smiled and began to direct me.

After about an hours or so, I had refreshed my memory of parallel parking. My dad decided to let me skip school today, so we were sat in the kitchen with Stephanie.

"So how's school been treating you?" My dad asked to break our silence. I shrugged.

"Alright, I guess. I think I'm failing science, though"

"Gotta try harder" he stated, drinking whatever was in his cup.

"I do try. I really do. I'm just not a smart person" I sighed.

"Ha, yeah. Coming from my daughter? No way"

"What's that mean?" I asked, turning to face him.

"You're my daughter. Obviously you're smart" he replied in a 'duh' tone. I shook my head with a smile.

"Man, I wish I was as positive as you"
