Kai's POV

I was worried about Katana. I hadn't seen her since Thursday when we went bowling. It was now Tuesday. I'd been working with Tony each day, but the whole atmosphere in the house had changed. Everything felt tense and awkward.

I was also worried about myself. Katana was supposed to kill me. It had been 5 days, and I still hadn’t seen her.

As if I had summoned her by thinking about her, my door flew open, revealing Katana.

“Katana! Are you… okay?”

She didn’t look okay. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun, and she had mascara smudge down her face – she’d clearly been crying.

“Yeah. Great.”

“Clearly.” She glared at me.

“Shut up.” Clearly any of the warmth from Thursday had gone. She was back to her usual self. Plus the tears.

“So. What am I gonna do about you, Kai?”

“What… What about me?”

“The whole… needing to kill you thing. Bit of a bummer.”

“Oh right. So you came here to kill me.”

“Of course not, idiot. Unfortunately, I don’t feel the urge to kill you tonight.”

“Wait… What? I thought… but”

She walked over to my bed, and sat down, before letting out a big sigh, and leaning backwards.

“Look Kai. I wish that I wanted to kill you. So much. I mean God, I hate the fact that I haven’t killed you. But here you are. Not dead. There’s something about you. I don’t know what it is about you Kai, but I haven’t killed you yet. Count yourself lucky.”

“Um. Thanks? I think?”

She only groaned in reply.

“So, if you’re not here to kill me, what are you here for?”

“Well, I don’t particularly want to be kicked out of my own family. So how do I kill you without killing you?”

She checked the time on here phone, and got up.

“I have to go. Bye.”

And with that, she left, and I didn’t see her for the rest of the afternoon.
