Kai's POV
I sat down, leaning against the wall. I knew Katana needed to do this on her own, but I was still worried for her. I listened carefully, ready to run in if she needed me.
I heard screams, but I couldn't hear Katana, so I figured everything was okay. For now. Everything went quiet for a while, and I stood up and started pacing up and down the corridor, listening out for any other noises.
After a while, I heard a gunshot, and the doors were flung open. Katana strode out, and I briefly saw a sea of shocked faces staring at Katana, and a pool of blood following her out the door. She didn't have her gun any more, and splatters of blood were covering her face, seeping into her hair.
"Let's go." She carried on matching down the hallway, and I raced to catch up.
"Hey, Kat, what happened, are you okay?"
She just nodded, and carried on.
"He's dead."
"And your family?"
"They hate me."
"You didn't... Explain it?"
"Um... Nope."
I finally reached her, and grabbed her hand.
"Hey, Kat. Are you okay?" She slowed down, and turned around to face me.
"I don't care what my family think. If they can't see what a dick he is... I don't care."
"Kat, just talk to them. Nothing bad will happen if you just explain."
She stopped, and leaned against the wall.
"If I tell them, I'll have to tell them everything. And then they won't see me as anything but the weak little girl he made me. I've been trying to escape that girl my whole life. That's... That's not who I am. It's who I see myself as, but... I don't want other people to see me like that."
I leaned against the wall next to her.
"You told me, and I don't think of you like that."
"Yeah but... You're... Different. You're nice. My family isn't like that." We both paused for a moment, not knowing what to do.
"I should explain to my family, shouldn't I." She sighed, and looked up to the ceiling.
"Yep. Probably." I paused. "You want to sneak out with them knowing?"
"Yep. Definitely."
