Kai’s POV

I felt a sharp pain on my shoulder, and pulled away from Katana to touch the scar embedded into my skin, reminding me of my father. The awful man that had hurt Katana. I scratched at it, hating it, and hating the man that had done it to me. As I did, a strange nausea passed over me, and I slowed down.

Katana looked at me, worried.

"Hey, moi caro, are you okay?" I vaguely nodded, starting to feel faint.

"Kai, darling, talk to me. What's wrong?" I didn't have the strength to stand any more, let alone walk, and I felt my knees buckle below me. The next thing I saw was the dark wood flooring rushing towards me, and arms catching me. My vision was blurring, and the world was swirling around me, and I couldn't focus on anything. I saw blurs of colours and shapes, nothing more. Katana's voice cut through the air, making its way towards me, but as hard as I tried, I couldn't understand her.

The last thing I felt was Katana's arms picking me up, before black spots spread into my eye, fading the world to black. The last thing I heard was Katana whispering in my ear, desperation filling her voice.

“Kai, darling, listen to me. Look at me. Darling, don’t do this to me. Please Kai.”

I tried to fight against the sea of darkness washing over my vision, but it was no use. The world around me faded, and I stopped hearing Katana's voice in my ear.
