Kai's POV

We heard footsteps, so Katana dragged me into the nearest room. We turned around, and I recognized the man sitting on the bed from the video recording. It was Robert. I looked over at Katana. She was staring at him, with complete fear in her eyes. She was screaming, crying, and shaking. I reached out to grab her arm, trying to comfort her, trying to drag her away from that sick man, but as I did, I felt arms around my waist, pulling me away. I tried to hold on, and as our fingers brushed, I felt Katana's fingers go ice cold from fear. The arms around me continued to pull away, so I started to hit and punch them, doing whatever I could to stay near Katana. But the arms were stronger, and my attempts only made them tighten their grip.

“Kai,” She began to whisper to me. “Kai, Shoot me.” I froze, staring at her, confused. “Shoot me, please.” She continued, almost begging me.
“I…” I began, but hands wrapped around my mouth, stopping me from talking.

“Kai, please. I can’t… Shoot me, please.” I clawed the air in front of me, trying to get back to my girl.

I felt my legs kicked out from under me, and the arms dragged me away from Katana. I was screaming, and I felt tears running down my face. I couldn't leave her alone with Robert. I carried on hitting the arms, trying to escape, trying to run back to Katana. Anything to make sure she was safe. But the arms kept pulling, and I was helpless. I screamed until my throat hurt, begging them to leave Katana alone. To take me, instead. No one listened.

Eventually the arms let go, and dropped me on a cold, stone floor. I hit my head, and heard a crunch that I hoped wasn't my bones.

I looked up, and saw a shadow blocking the fluorescent light above me. The shadow moved out of the light, allowing me to see his face. Dante's face.

I lay there in stunned silence.

"Not so talkative now, are you? You know, Kai, you've really been a pain in my ass." He grabbed my collar, and threw my against the wall, pinning me there.

"If I didn't know any better, I would've thought you wanted to make out with me." Even before he punched me, I regretted saying that. But everything that he'd done to Katana... As much as I hated him, he'd also brought us closer together. He was the reason I’d met her. And I figured, sarcasm would annoy him more than anger.

I saw the fist moving towards my face, and tried to dodge, but he was too fast. I winced in pain, and began to taste blood in my mouth.

“Listen here, you little shit. You’ve got in the way of my family, and my business for far to long. I am not having you mess up anything else for me. I am so close to having complete control, complete power over this family.”

He punched me again, this time forcing my chin into my chest.

“You seem desperate to impress me,” I forced a fake laugh, and spat some of the blood out of my mouth onto his perfectly white shirt.

“I don’t need to impress anyone. Especially not a stupid little cop like you.”

He gave me a backhand slap, living a sharp sting across my face.

“It’s funny. That you’re so fucking insecure that you can’t even let your own sister help you. You always have to be the big man, the one in charge, just because your scared of how weak you really are.”

Dante glared at me. He was getting furious, just as I wanted. He was starting to lose his rationality, and being blinded by rage.

He pulled a knife out, and charged towards me. I twisted away, desperate to try and avoid getting stabbed. He scraped my shoulder, ripping my shirt. Dante hit the wall, not expecting to miss me.
