"Malaki laki na yung apoy! Hindi kana pwedeng pumasok iho! Mag-antay nalang tayo ng bumbero papasok na sila!" I heard the people surrounding the place yelled at me.

"Hindi pwede! Nasa loob ang mag-ina ko!"

Mabilis kong binuhos ang tubig na sinusubukan nilang ipang-apula sa apoy sa katawan ko. I need to save Rowena and Benj. Hindi pwedeng mawala sa'kin ang mag-ina ko. Hindi pwede!

Humablot ako ng twalya sa isa sa mga nakikiusyoso sa apoy at binasa din ito bago tuluyang pumasok. I should've listened to my instinct earlier na huwag nalang umalis. May kung anong pumipigil sa'kin kanina na wag silang iwan, but then Yohan reminded me that it was urgent. I set aside the unease I felt and it ended this way.

Rowena suddenly called in middle of the night. Her voiced was sounded so terrified. I felt my heart drop when she was begging on the other side of the phone to be saved. My knees trembled in fear seeing her room already being consumed by the fire. It can't be... I still went there to look for her pero bago pako makalapit ay nakarinig ako ng kalampag sa kabilang pintuan. It was Benjamin's room. Tumakbo ako papalapit doon, when I held the door knob napaso ako at nabitawan ko ito.

"Rowena! Benj! Nandyan ba kayo!?"

Puro uling ang mukha nilang dalawa. They were hugging each other inside Benjamin's bathroom. She was holding a hanky, covering Benj's mouth and nose.

"J-just hang on ok? Benj? Hang on there ok? Tanggalin lang ito ni Daddy," I tried to calmly tell them when in fact, hindi ko alam paano ko tatanggalin ang nasusunog na parte ng kisame na bumagsak at humarang sa pintuan.

I smiled to them, assuring them everything will be fine. Habang naghahanap ako ng ipang-aangat noong apoy ay nakita ko yung ginamit na saklay ni Rowena. It was also hot but I decided to just endure, naingat ko ito ng bahagya enough para makadaan ako.
