But I was quick enough to hide before he could notice me.
Just to be safe, I kept a hand over my mouth to avoid making any noise and even took my breaths slowly in order to not make my presence known to him. But it was all opposite because I heard the footsteps getting closer and so the smell of smoke from the gun. Is he aiming the gun at me?
Oh shit, I have to run away before he catches me. So, like a sane person, I left my basket there and ran for my life. But, damn my anklets' sound, it loud as hell. I am pretty sure the whole forest must be echoing by it.
How could I not have removed it when I got the time? I am really doomed now. Just focus of running Isha, don't look back and just run for your dear life.
On my back, I clearly heard the rustling of the bushes and loud footsteps quietly following me like a predatory animal. And me, like a scaredy cat, is running away. If I don't pay careful attention to it, I will definitely end up in his trap.
I was running so carelessly that I didn't even notice my skirt getting stuck in a nearby branch but the least I could do was to rip off that part of the fabric by my bare hands.
And again without noticing I ran tirelessly and when I found a dense part covered with large trees, I hid myself behind a tree and quietly took long breaths trying my best to not make a sound of my panting.
While the footsteps only got closer and closer until they stopped. And I didn't have to guts to peek and look at the man again, just tried my best to not make a fool out of myself.
But as if it was written somewhere, the curiosity of his absence got the best of me and once I was breathing fine, I peeked through the tree and saw that there was no one.
I again grazed my eyes to the every corner of the forest possible but there was no sign of anyone's presence or even the faint sounds of footsteps were not been able to be heard. I don't know why or how but I thought maybe he has left and took a sigh of relief and decided to come out, take my basket, and then immediately leave this monstrous place.
And like an idiot I came out from behind the tree and again looked here and there to make sure that no one is nearby and then started to walk slowly to where I came from when suddenly,
"Where do you you're going, little lady?"
One deep rough voice said from behind me but at a distance and my foot stopped in the midway and levitated in the air. I chose to not turn back as it can get me in more trouble and he might think I disrespecting him but running away in this situation seems to do the same thing.
I looked at my surroundings, trying to find a way to dogde this man while he was striding towards me. I chose the way that was between two almost sticking tress as I am thin but he is all muscles and body so he won't be able to chase me there and in instant, as he about to catch me, I ran again and literally jumped over the laid branch in order to escape him.
It must be pleasing for him as he stood in one place. I thought he finally got bored and now he will leave me alone but I didn't know how much more wrong I could be.
As I ran, I frequently looked back to check whether he was chasing me or not and didn't even try to look in front which was the river.
The moment I noticed it, I tripped over a rock and was just about to fall in it when I felt someone grabbing my left hand's wrist and pulling me with such force that I collided against a steel like chest.
I didn't have to open my eyes to check who it was because I knew it was him. As I balanced myself, he didn't, for a second left my hand from his tight grip. Just I regained my balance, I pulled myself back on my feet and away from him.
