The next day
🌼🌼🌼🌼
"You packed everything?"
"Yes I did, maa."
And I tied the knot of the bag. After making sure that I have packed everything, I stood up and started walking towards maa when I saw her packing our food in a tiffin for our journey to the town.
And so, I decided to call out for her. When I called out her name she ignored me as if she didn't even listen to me. I guess that she is more busy than it seems.
"Maa!??"
"Huh? Haan, Isha, kya hua?"
"Why are doing everything so fast? You will get hurt."
"I wouldn't have been if you wouldn't have had to leave so early. Its already evening, the carriage is going to come at any time now."
And then she looked at me and keeping her palm on her face, she said,"hey mere bhagwaan, ye ladki. Kya kar rhi thi tu itni der se?"
"Huh? Kya hua?"
"Tu taiyaar nhi hui. Baba se daant sunn kar hogi ki nhi jaane ka irada h?"
"Aree, haan."
"Aree haan? Ja jakar taiyaar ho!!!!"
"Yeah, yeah. I am going."
And I fearfully ran towards my room and took out a beautiful lavender colour lehenga with matching duppata and sandals, pairing it with my silver earrings and my pretty anklets.
And after wearing all of it, I checked myself one last time in the mirror, adjusting everything and then coming out. As I took my bag and went out near the main door, I saw maa giving some kind of prasaad to baba to have a safe journey.
Why do mothers do that? I don't have any idea. Even in my time, mumma used to do this when I was giving my board exams as if God is going to write my paper. According to her, it works as a lucky charm. Let's see how much luck it brings.
When baba's turn was over she called for me. I nodded my head and keeping my bag there, I went towards her and bowed my head a little when she applied the tika first and then applying Kohl behind my ears, I forwarded my hand and she gave me the prasaad.
I ate the dry fruits in one go and then bent down to touch her feet. She blessed me good health and then warning me to stay safe for the 100th time already, she caressed my head and then allowed me to go, only when baba asked her to and when the hooves of the horses were heard near the house.
I went towards the main door and taking my heavy bag in my hand, I opened the door, went towards the cart and kept my bag with the other bags and then went towards the door and joining my hands in front of maa, I told her to take care while we are gone and not to overwork.
And she told me to be safe and not to mendle in unnecessary people. I nodded my head and then baba asked me to come fast or else we are going to be late.
I hugged maa one last time and she, while smiling, wished me luck in my journey ahead and then waved me goodbye. I also went towards the cart while waving her goodbye.
And then sat in the corner seat of the cart and from there, the village's veiw was visible and I honestly, loved it. Let's see where this journey takes us to.
And then the cart started moving. While baba was sitting with the driver, I was behind with the bags and thinking about the morning conversation.
In the morning
I came out after wiping myself dry and wore my simple green lehenga and lightly waved my wet hair, dry.
Maa woke me up so early, like 4:00 in the morning and told me to wash up quickly. I don't know the reason why she did that but I guess I have to follow her or else she will definitely throw her rolling pin towards me.
As I was adjusting my duppata, I sensed a presence behind me and suddenly someone grabbed me by my shoulders, shaking me and saying 'boo'.
As if her tricks can scare me. But I decided to play with her and faked that I hit my pinky toe in the wall because of her and my goodness, she looked like she was about to cry or something. Oh god, this girl. So sensitive.
"Are majak tha. Majak."
"Koi darata h kya kisiko? Mujhe laga tumhe sach me kaske laga h."
"Maaf karde."
"Achaa thik. Chal wo sab chodd, tu ja rhi h kya?"
"Kahan?"
"Uss darinde se milne?"
"Ohh."
"Yrr, tu mtt ja warna kya pta wo daanav kya karega tere saath."
Yes, one day, when I had enough of his dirty tricks and I saw him torturing a poor farmer infront of his family. I just had enough and I don't why but I went towards a far place and sitting under a tree, I started crying and that's when Megha found me and asked me what happened.
I trust her enough to let out my every emotion and told her everything from meeting him for the first time to the current meet where he again demanded me to meet him near his camp. I didn't go obviously but then saw him torturing that poor farmer.
She understood the situation I was in and comforted me even though she her herself was sheding tears. I just hugged her let it all out at once.
Remembering that day, I think I did the right thing. Now what's remaining is that am I willing to go meet him? Now that's a definite no but then again, I can't hurt my family. He will definitely hurt my entire village if not followed his orders because that what Britishers are.
"Mann to nhi kar rha h."
"Kiska Mann karega maut ke muh me jaane ka?"
"Tera."
"Haan haan, baatien karwalo inse bas."
"Hehe."
"Achaa thik h, magar main bata du agar tu jayegi to abhi hi nikal and mil aa kyunki kaki gayi h mandir aur kaka bahar gaye h."
"Kyun?"
"Mujhe kaise pata hoga?"
"Achaa thik."
Saying that I made a braid in my hair and then came out of my room to go out so that I can go to meet him.
I honestly don't want to go at all but currently, my situation speaks higher than my wish and so, taking my veil and closing the door behind me, leaving Megha alone in the house. I came outside and started walking towards the forest.
God prepare me before hand, please.
As I reached the forest, I searched for my way towards the riverside and guessing the path purely on my luck, I started moving towards the destination.
When I reached the riverside, I saw the sun coming out, I joined my hands and bowed down, greeting the sun and wishing for my safety, currently.
And then simply stood there, wondering what now? Will he come? He did say in the morning and if checked the time, it would be around 7:00.
What should I do now? How do I tell him that I am here? Should I send a peigon or what?
Just then I heard a faint laughing sound nearby and by the voice, I just knew who it could be.
"Captain?"
I said while looking at the river and feeling his steps behind me as he came out of the dense part of the forest.
"Little flower."
Let's see what this monster has for me, today.
