They say that time heals everything but my wound.............didn't even get the time to get healed.
Again.......he is in front of me, looking at me as if I am a fish caught in his trap. While I, was completely wet, from head to toe and was coughing continuously and trying my best to suck in every breath, I could.
He was wet too but wasn't coughing like me, was completely neautral and even in such situations, he was looking at me with malicious admiration in his cold eyes.
"Little flower, tell me one thing, are you dumbly clever or cleverly dumb?"
What kind of a question is that supposed to be? I don't know what or how to answer that freaking question at all. All I knew was that I have to get out of this situation and from him, as soon as possible.
Few hours ago
"Are you done yet?"
"Yes!" I replied to Megha's question while I was adjusting my skirt around my waist.
It's been one week already after 'that' incident and life is almost getting back on tracks except I am stepping out of house after a week.
To say that I was uncomfortable would be an understatement of my fear but at some point of life, I have to go out at least.
And that's what I am doing currently. I couldn't share anything of that incident to any one of my family or friends because I am afraid, it might get them in trouble.
After I felt that I looked presentable, I took my veil over my braided hair and came outside my room and went straight towards Megha.
Today, to lighten up my mood which was dull for this past week, she suggested that we go to our fathers' farms and help them out a bit to ease their work for today.
I hesitated at first but her convincing and maa's advice to get some fresh air, changed my mind and so here I am.
As I reached where Megha was, I saw her and maa talking about something and when they saw me, she immediately came towards me and shoved a pot, a small basket and a mattress in my hand.
The heck? What are we going to do with all this? Is this all necessary? Isha, you still have a long way to go, in learning all this.
Then she picked up the same things in her hands and then asked me to follow her. I said that I am coming up and after greeting maa, I left the house behind her and while walking, greeted everyone who passed by us.
After few minutes
I reached the farms and my, it looks so beautiful. The light winds blowing away the unnecessary leaves and small pollens from here to somewhere in the west. And it took me quite some time to regain my senses while I was admiring the almost grown up crops and those beautiful birds flying from one place to another.
The crops and flowers were dancing with the winds and with the right amount of sunlight, it's all looking golden in colour.
Then I started walking towards where my father was and saw him picking up the weeds from nearby the wheat crops while other farmers where sprinkling water in their farms and some where eating their lunch early.
Megha went towards her father and kept all the materials under a tree's shade and laid down the mattress so that they could rest.
Aha, it seems I have to do the same. I searched for a perfect tree shade nearby and when I found one, I went there and unfolded the mattress and kept both the basket and the pot on the mattress and then went towards baba.
When I came towards baba, he was still not aware of my presence so I decided to play a little prank on him. I went beside him, rather quietly and when I reached the spot, I took out a thin grass and touched it against baba's cheek and he immediately looked towards me, with shock in his eyes.
I, seeing his reaction, started laughing and eventually when I got a glare, I stopped laughing but was still chuckling and then bent down to help him in picking these weeds up in a big basket while having a little chat with him about my day and him telling me about the nearby rumours which were spreading like a pandemic in the village.
In all that rumour, one particular rumour caught my attention completely and my bubbly self, almost fell silent at the moment. Another man was found near the main gate of the village and it seemed that he was brutally beaten to death and left there. Then I heard him saying or more like pleading that he does not know when we will get our independence from these cruel Britishers.
How can I tell him that do not loose hope because we will but not now? With what words can I tell him that it's almost a 50 years left to regain our independence from these people or that by that time, we do not know if we will be alive or not?
So I just kept quiet and did my business while lightly agreeing to his words and him continuously saying all that all over again.
Oh god, my father in present doesn't talk this much but rather briefly, baba talks so much with me and tries his best to continue the conversation. I smiled at him while looking at him from my side eyes.
When our work finished, I stood straight, stretching my back and then keeping the basket in its place and then went to ask baba if he will eat lunch now. Right when he said yes, I went towards the mattress and took the basket and opened it and seeing all those delicious, I was now hungry.
So as baba came to sit in the shade, I opened the basket and taking out a plate, I served him the food when I realised that there no water to drink.
I asked baba if we can take water from the farms' well. When he denied and said that it has some medicines mixed, I didn't knew where to bring water from. When asked Megha about it, she said to bring it from the village's well.
Its so far away from here, I don't want to go so far. Then she suggested that I go to the forest's river then, the water there is also good for my work.
I didn't want to enter that place again but I have no option but to enter it again. I have to get the water anyhow and btw, it is afternoon right now so he shouldn't be in the forest right?
Yes, then I will quickly go and come back without letting anyone notice that I was gone there. And after making up my mind, I took my pot and started walking towards the forest.
If only someone could tell the future.....tsk tsk tsk.
As I reached the forest, this time I was not wearing any anklets so I was quiet safe but now I have to safe from the wild animals and probably anyone who is here for any sort of work.
As I took my steps towards the riverside, I almost slipped over the muddy end. Looks like I have to be careful or else I might fall in the river.
Then I bent down on my toes and pushing the pot inside the water, I filled it with the water and then stood up and just then as I was afraid, I slipped and my pot in the water, floating quite far from the side.
Shot, Isha can't you do anything with creating a mess out of it? Now, how do I get it back?
I bend down a little and analysed that I have to either jump in the water to get it back or take something like a hook and drag it till here.
Both seemed impossible at the moment so I sat down and entering the water lightly, made waves in the water to get it back when again due to this damn mud, I slipped and fell right in the water.
Wow, no, I don't know how to swim. How will I reach back? I need someone's help but who will help me in this forest?
But still I tried screaming help but water entered my mouth and silenced my voice and so I had no choice but to let go. I don't want to die now. Please......someone........save.........me.....
Just as my eyes were closing, I saw something dark and big entering the water and then someone took hold of my raised hand when darkness surrounded me and I closed my eyes.
