"Stop!!"
A loud voice boomed stopping everyone in their tracks. And the pain never came, instead it felt like the ground crumbled due to the voice and everyone else fell silent, hearing it.
When I opened my eyes, I saw the junior officer looking pale and looking in the direction where Cedric and his freinds are and the whip was almost about to fall from his hands.
"Get away from her."
And the man stepped away from me. Then I saw every junior officer getting away at least a meter away from me as if I am plague. And that's when his friends, after observing the whole situation, looked strangely at him and started asking him questions which was barely listened by anyone but them.
And that's when I heard Cedric saying, more like ordering again.
"That's all for today, don't dare defy us again, you bloody Indians."
And saying that, all of them sat on their horses and prepared to set off.
And that's when I saw Dharam coming towards me and the child and with a pale look himself, he came towards us with a glint of worry in his eyes and the moment he reached us, he gave me his hand to stand and with his help, I stood on my foot and taking the child in my arms.
After giving the child to his mother who was messily crying just like me and hugged her trembling child and crushing him to her heart, she cried her heart out while I looked at the Dharam who came to rescue and thinking that they already left, I thanked him and was so scared at that moment that without thinking so much, I hugged him and started wiping my tears while he, with one hand pulled my head towards his shoulder and pressed it lightly against it and caressed my head.
I felt like every emotion was exploding through my body and my heart. I wouldn't say that I wasn't scared of the Britishers before but right now, it's just too much.
But most importantly, what I wasn't aware of was that someone's peircing gaze was on us and it seemed like it would burn a hole in the clothes.
And going towards Megha like that was something which I will be embarrassed for the rest of the life. The moment I reached towards her, she caught a hold of my one arm in her trembling ones and he held another one and it took me some time to calm myself down and then thanking both of them, I told Dharam to go back as his sister must be looking for him.
He nodded his head and then left when I took a peek at the direction where the Britishers went and suddenly felt an extremely dark aura emerging from there. Its best that I avoid running into him again.
But even I am helpless when he himself shows up in front of me every time and act as if it's the right thing to do or as if he owns the 24 hours of my life. But whatever this nonsense is, I will put an end to it.
My excitement for the market was surely down before but now, it's beyond negative and Megha, understanding my current feelings, she took me back to my home.
"Isha."
"Hmm?"
"Sorry"
"What? (Looking at her) What are you sorry for?"
"When you said that you don't want to go, I forced you."
"(Chuckling lightly) Its What anyone else would also do for their friends like me, so it's absolutely alright."
"You didn't get hurt, right?"
"Luckily, no."
"Btw, did you notice the gaze the captain was throwing at you?"
