Griselda was getting out of the shower, her long silver hair dripping down her back. She had recently received a letter from her brother and she intended to read it at her ease. She knew she could expect anything from him.
Dear Griselda,
I am sending you one of my maids, Catherine Blackseed. I hope she will be useful to you.
With all my affection,
Arthur
Griselda placed the letter on the arm of her velvet armchair and sighed. What twisted trick had his brother thought up this time? What's more, he hadn't even tried to get back his former servant, Clave, or rather, Princess Mystic. How could anyone guess what he had in mind?
He wanted the throne of Sirine at any price!
Griselda began pacing back and forth thoughtfully. She hoped that Clave would be able to master her powers quickly, so that she could stop Arthur before he regained the Crown. However, she would never force Clave to deal with the whole thing if she didn't want to.
In the corridor, she came across her nephew, Noah.
– Hello, Auntie, he greeted her.
– Hello, Noah. Tell me, have you seen Clave, by any chance? I've got something to tell her.
– I think she's in her room.
– Okay. Thanks. By the way, I got a letter from your father last night when you were training Clave, explained Griselda.
Noah bit his lip, annoyed. He really hated being told about Duke Arthur.
– What was the letter about? asked the young man.
– Arthur sent us one of his maids, a young woman called Catherine Blackseed.
– What's he up to now? growled Noah.
– I'm wondering the same thing...
Noah heaved a deep sigh, then waved goodbye to his aunt and continued on his way.
Griselda made her way to her protégée's room. She knocked gently on the door.
– Come in, answered the young girl.
Arthur's sister opened the door and entered the room. Clave was sitting quietly on the bed, staring out of the window. She was clutching the blue pendant Arthur had given her.
Griselda approached the bed and sat down on it, next to Clave.
– Hey, Griselda..., whispered the young girl with the golden hair. Now that I know I'm Princess Mystic, I'm going to have to find the Crown, aren't I?
Griselda could clearly see the doubt in her protégé's eyes.
– You have a choice, Clave. I would never force you to go in search of the Crown if you didn't want to, or if you didn't feel up to it.
– Okay...
Griselda held the young girl's hand tightly in her own, then rose and left the room, leaving Clave alone, tormented by doubts.
"Still..." thought the princess, "if I don't find the Crown... who knows what Duke Arthur might do with it?"
