Without hesitation, Clave rushed out of the mirrored room and ran down the stairs, tumbling down four at a time. The moment to eliminate Arthur had finally arrived. However, the young girl soon began to doubt again. She stopped in the middle of the staircase, the huge front door in front of her, so close and yet so far away.
"I... I'm not going to make it. I'm far too inexperienced. He'll... he'll kill me for sure..."
– Clave!
Before she could even turn around, Noah was already behind her.
– Don't go unarmed, Clave. It's not safe. Besides, I'm sure he's set a trap for you.
"A trap...?"
– But how are we going to do that? she asked, her voice hesitant.
– We'll have to be smarter than he is, said the telepath.
– But how?
– I don't really know. But we've got to find a weapon first.
Noah took Clave's hand and they went up the stairs together. The young man led her into a room full of swords of all kinds.
– But I don't know how to handle weapons like that...
– Don't worry, I'm pretty good with a blade in my hands, replied her boyfriend. And I think Griselda's pretty good too.
– You seem determined to beat Arthur...
Noah turned sharply towards her and locked his gaze on hers.
– I'll never let him win, he said with a hint of anger in his voice.
– I understand... replied Clave.
The telepath let out a sigh.
– I'm sorry. I got carried away again...
– Don't worry, the blonde reassured him with a smile.
After picking up several swords, they left the room and went into the hall, where their friends were waiting for them. However, Clave quickly noticed that they were split into two groups: Griselda, Corentin and Béatrice on one side, Naos and Catherine on the other. Under the questioning gaze of her friend, the ginger approached her and explained:
– As I don't possess any magic, I won't be of any use to you against Duke Arthur, so I prefer to stay here.
– The same goes for me, added Naos. Well, I know how to use blue magic, but Bea is much more powerful than I am.
Further away, his sister rolled her eyes, annoyed that the young man underestimated himself so much. Then, with a teasing smile on her lips, she whispered something in Corentin's ear, which turned bright red. This scene relaxed Clave slightly.
– Let's go, announced Corentin. It's now or never. We mustn't let Arthur beat Clave. Who knows what he might do with the Crown. We must avoid that, all right?
Everyone nodded. Clave approached the group about to fight and handed them each a sword. Only Beatrice refused.
– I'll be there to support you and help you if you have any problems, but I'm not good at fighting, she said.
The blonde nodded. Then she turned towards the door and yanked it open, her friends right behind her.
Even if she was trembling, even if she was afraid, even if she hesitated, she wanted to win. She was determined to accomplish the mission Ruby had given her. Everyone was counting on her, and that was pressure enough, but the young girl was not alone.
