As soon as she arrived in the castle hall, Clave climbed the stairs four by four and rushed to her bedroom to jump onto her bed. She clutched her pillow to her heart, the Crown lying beside her. She turned to the painting, where Ruby was and would always be frozen.
– Look, sis, I've done it! I've accomplished my duty. I've got the Crown back, just like you wanted. It was hard, but I did it. And, Ruby... I hope you can forgive me for what I did to you.
– I'm sure she never held it against you.
Clave sat up, surprised, her cheeks flushed.
– Why did you listen? she exclaimed, falsely outraged.
– I wasn't listening, I was just passing by and I heard you.
– Sure you did.
The blonde patted the empty space beside her. Noah happily accepted the invitation and lay down on the bed, his head in the young girl's lap.
– I love you, he said, gazing into Clave's blue eyes.
– I love you more.
– That's not possible, said Noah.
He laughed in a way that melted his girlfriend's heart.
– Sorry to interrupt, lovebirds, but Griselda would like to talk to you. Well, especially Clave, said Beatrice.
The young Blueraven was leaning against the wall in the doorway to the bedroom. She was smirking. Clave began to blush even more. Noah stood up, looking disappointed, then got off the bed and turned to the young girl, holding out his hand.
Griselda gathered up a pile of letters she had just written and placed them in a corner of the desk in the mirrored room. They were addressed to the various families, one for each, because it was time to tell them that the kingdom was finally going to have a real ruler again. Since the fall of the royal family, the country had been guided by the respective heads of each family. There were five people, and therefore five families, on this council. The Silverwoods, Griselda and Arthur's family, the Blueravens, Beatrice and Naos' family, the Greenspirits, the Redstorms and a representative of the middle class, a Birdwing. It had been almost 70 years since Sirine's decisions had been made in this way, but with the awakening of Clave, everything was finally about to change. Griselda had great faith in the young girl.
However, there was one last problem: it had existed for a very long time, even before the fall of the royal family: tensions with neighbouring countries. The two countries were fighting over an island with precious resources.
The ambassador had no idea whether Clave would be able to do it, but she would be there to assist her. It was her job to manage relations with other countries, after all.
Someone knocked gently on the door. However, it opened before she could even reach the handle.
– Come in, Clave, please.
The blonde nodded and headed for the study.
– So, began Noah's aunt, I've prepared letters for the five families ruling Sirine, to tell them that the Crown has a new owner.
Griselda tapped the letters she'd written.
– Should I send the one for Arthur? He'll come here if he hears that you've found the Crown.
Clave began to think. She wanted to put an end to all this and eliminate the threat he posed.
– Yes, please send it...
Griselda smiled. Arthur would have found out anyway.
– It's not necessary, interrupted Noah. He's already here.
