"I am pretty sure that's illegal"
I said
"I am pretty sure i'm a criminal"
Adarsh replied back. I wanted to argue but he opened the door to my father's room and I forgot everything. He was awake, lost in his thoughts
"Dad!"
I ran to him and hugged him while he was still laying on the bed. He hugged me back immediately
"I thought you were not allowed here"
He asked patting my shoulder
"Adarsh got us in"
Dad looked over my shoulder at Adarsh was standing at the end of the room. Adarsh waved at dad, Dad nodded.
"Kashvi, take care of yourself"
"Uske liye aap hona"
"Kab tak hu main?"
"Aap aisa matt bolo! Sab theek hojayega"
"Agar sab theek ho bhi gaya....I am going to leave someday"
"Why?"
I said on the verge of crying
"Because that's life. Parents aren't meant to outlive their children...And you don't need me baccha"
"I will always need you"
I burst into tears.
"What you need is...a advice about men in your life"
Dad said and I stopped crying immediately
"You mean Adarsh..."
"No...I mean Adarsh and Shashank"
"What about Shashank and Adarsh?"
"That you don't love him...ans that you love Adarsh"
"Dad--"
"Shush...let me talk. Shashank is everything you have wanted. He is kind, gentle. Adarsh is everything you need. He is passionate about you."
"What do you want me to do?"
"I want you to chose what your heart wants. You can marry Shashank and still be in love with Adarsh...."
"I don't love---"
"Oh don't lie to a dying man!"
"Dad! You are not dying!"
I almost yelled getting up from my seat. Adarsh got alerted
"Kashvi!"
He loudly wispered
"Don't fucking yell. They will come in and throw us out and get us arrested or something"
"Why? You scared of going to jail Adarsh?"
I taunted
"No need to taunt me...focus on your father"
I turned to dad
"As I was saying--"
I began but was interrupted by dad
"Don't lie to me or yourself Kashvi. Its okay to chose Shashank even if you don't love him."
"How is that okay Dad?"
"Because you are marrying him. Because you are going to start a family with him someday. And because you are selfless enough to let go of what you want in order to not hurt him...."
