Chapter 35

KASHVI'S POV

We went back to my parent's house. After a lot of talking, we had our dinner. Mom ordered ice cream and it had about 20 mins to come. Till then everyone dug their heads in their phones. My head was digging Adarsh's. I wanted to talk to him. To hold him tight. To tell its all okay.

I see Adarsh walk to the lawn and sit on the swing there. I go to him.

"Hey"

I say

"Hey. Thanks for.....before. And...sorry for....uk...."

"Don't do it again"

I sit next to him. He shifts away from me a little.

"Tumhe Shashank ke saath hona chahiye. Woh shayad odd feel kare...aaj jo hua uske baad"

"Hmm...main baat kar lungi"

Then there was the famous silence

"I think you should...talk to a therapist"

I suggested him

"Umm, tried that in Bhutan. Didn't exactly work"

"Why?"

"I didn't let my guard down because I thought I'd tell what I had done...uk...abt the whole being criminal thing"

"I get it. But I think you can just talk about your mother to your therapist. Might feel lighter"

"I'll rather talk to you, I feel lighter that way too"

He looked at me with a small smile

"There is something I never told you"

He said. Is he gonna confess?

"What?"

"Thank you for putting up with me. For not letting me stay in that jail waiting for a death sentence or worse, life sentence."

As much as I loved what he said. I wasn't satisfied

"I am a hard person to deal with but I am also the one who would give away his world just to see you smile"

He said looking soo deep in my eyes. He slowly leaned forward and I didn't back off. His lips had just touched mine hesitantly when--

"Kashvi!"

My body flinched and I looked in the direction of the sound. It was Shashank. Standing right in front of us. We quickly got down from the swing.

"Shashank, I...I---"

"Can explain?"

He finished my sentence

"Do me a favour and don't try to explain yourself Kashvi!"

I stepped towards Shashank and was going to open my mouth to speak but he stopped me

"I let it slide before, I won't this time. I saw you and Adarsh kiss in Bhutan. In that car."

That felt like a slap across my face

"What?"

"That's why I thought lets wait a few days and not get married right away. Jabse tum wapas aayi ho mujhe extra sweetly behave kar rahi ho out of guilt. I thought maybe this will still work but jab tum wapas aaye ho Adarsh! Kuch theek nahi hai. Sirf 2 din hue tumhe aake aur ye haal hai"

He pointed his finger at Adarsh and raised his voice. Adarsh looked down. He looked guilty too.

"And Adarsh, the only reason you are here right now is because you left before. She us wearing my ring, not yours. You left and I came in her life. These 5 years, I have done everything to make her happy and you haven't even tried to contact her man!"
