"𝐖𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐍 this."

Nessa was sitting at a picnic table in the courtyard, Ani and Clay joining her. They were all three hunched over and close to each other, discussing the bomb that had been thrown at them during the Future Fair.

Nessa usually had lunch with Scott, but she had to do some fast talking today to let him know that she needed to take care of something. The last thing that she wanted to do was pull him into all of this. He was already stuck in the middle, both him and Charlie. She didn't want to drag him in further.

"Nobody here even knows who Winston is."

"Except Alex." Nessa piped up, speaking her first words since the three teenagers had sat down. Her stomach twinged with guilt at the mere mentioning of his name, but that was normal to Nessa now.

"Who we absolutely shouldn't tell." Ani said, directing the comment more towards Nessa.

She shrugged, taking a deep sigh. "He would have to speak to me for me to be able to tell him anything."

Alex and Nessa hadn't been on the outs, really. But, they weren't considered the best of friends either. Guess that happens when you kill someone.

"I just don't get it." Clay said, frustration lacing his voice as he threw his hands up. "Monty beat the shit out of him. Why would Winston go back?"

"Fuck if I know." Ani replied, shaking her head. "Why would Jess go back with Justin? Or Nessa with Alex?"

Nessa looked up at Ani, cutting her eyes slightly before realizing that she did have a point. She hated admitting when she was in the wrong, and other people were in the right.

"All we know is that they were together that night." Ani said through a defeated sigh.

"So, why hasn't he done anything yet?" Clay asked. "Why aren't we all in jail already?"

"Maybe he doesn't have any proof." Ani suggested, and both Nessa and Clay looked at each other, confirming that the other was thinking the same thing.

"Maybe that's why he's here." Nessa stated blankly, and Clay nodded in agreement. "To get proof."

The two of them sighed, waiting for Ani to seem even half as stressed as they were about the whole thing, but she was oddly calm. That pissed Nessa off.

"And you said everything was handled, Ani." Clay retorted rather sharply, still not meeting his girlfriend's eyes.

"You said that Tyler's guns were handled." Ani replied quickly.

"They are!" Clay grew heated, and Nessa began to feel caught in the middle of an awkward old married couple.

"But you don't really believe that, do you?" Ani cornered, and Clay kept his head down, trying to gather his thoughts when he finally snapped his head up.
