act two / monty was framed
"𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐀."
"Nessa. Wake up." Scott shook his girlfriend senseless as he tried to wake her, the two of them getting quite comfortable with the week-long break that they had from school after the riot that she had helped impose last week.
"No." Nessa groaned as she reached over, throwing her hand across her boyfriend's torso and pulling him down into her. "I want to stay here."
"You, of all people, cannot be late today." Scott told her firmly. "You have damage control to do."
Nessa rolled her eyes, groaning as she pulled the blankets off of her body and sitting up in bed. She knew he was right, but that didn't mean she liked it.
"Can we get an apartment in New York?" Nessa asked, halfway joking to change the subject, but there was a part of her that was serious. She had thought about it all week, and even before that.
Scott's eyes widened, and a smile crept across his face as he pulled his shirt over his body.
"We can discuss that, yes." he told his girlfriend, using his arms to hold himself up as he leaned onto the bed, pressing a kiss to her lips. "But right now, you need to get ready so we can go to school."
"Ugh." Nessa complained as she got up, pulling her clothes off of the hanger she had rested over Scott's desk chair. "At least you didn't say no."

"𝐒𝐎, 𝐋𝐄𝐓 𝐌𝐄 get this straight." Nessa said in her meeting with Dean Foundry – alone, she must add, because they refused to let Jessica and her feed off of each other any longer. "Your response to this is more punishment?"
"The police have deferred prosecution, pending our investigations." Dean Foundry told the girl. "So we need to find out who did what, and why."
"Okay." Nessa said. "Punish me, that's fine. But you can't cancel prom, that's completely unfair."
"Nessa." Dean Foundry spoke. "A group of parents managed to get a county judge to issue a gang injunction against the students at Liberty. We can't have a prom."
Nessa's eyes widened, trying to make sense of what the man just said to her. "That is insane."
"Yeah, well." Foundry replied as he adjusted himself in his chair. "It wouldn't have been my choice on how to proceed either, but there we are."
"Anyways." he continued when Nessa didn't have an answer. "You can help me if you could just clue me in on why Justin and Diego were even fighting in the first place. Why Clay Jensen is destroying security cameras? What's really going on here?"
Nessa sat back in her seat, crossing her arms in front of her as she tried to muster up a reply to the man in front of her.
"What is really going on here is that we are going to have a prom." Nessa declared with a coolness in her voice. "And I'm going to dance with my boyfriend and my best friends like I don't have a single care in the world. And for just one night, I'm going to pretend that the things we go through in this fucked up building called Liberty High School are completely normal."
