𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐆 Justin's death were some of the longest, hardest, and emptiest days of Nessa Dempsey's life. She spent all of them in her bedroom, with Scott and Zach permanently at her side.

Jessica was there frequently. The two best friends spent their time crying, bonding over their pain that was so similar yet so different.

Alex and Charlie came by for an hour everyday, bringing over varying sweets that Charlie baked himself, and it was always a new one everyday. Charlie didn't mind, because he knew that taking a bit of extra time baking at night wouldn't affect him much, but Nessa would remember the gesture forever.

Tyler and Estela had made quite a few appearances as well. Neither of them knew exactly what to say, but Nessa made sure to tell them that their presence alone was enough.

Savannah had come by to see her too, accompanied by Scott's parents. Nessa didn't have many words, but they could tell by the look on her face that she was grateful.

Clay had called Nessa a couple days before the funeral, asking if she wanted to speak at Justin's funeral. Of course, Nessa was quick to say yes, but writing something was harder than she could have ever imagined. However, no matter how many times she wanted to give up, she forced herself to keep going and writing, because that was what Justin would want, and she knew that.

Now, the day was finally here. Nessa stood in the foyer of the church, Scott's arm around her for support, with yet another black dress on as she scanned the room. All of the athletes had on their jerseys, a testament to the many years that Justin spent on the football team. Zach was beside her, their mother and May in tow behind the two siblings.

"We should go say hey to your teammates." Nessa whispered to Scott, and he nodded as they walked toward all of the boys. Nessa bit her lip, trying to hold back her tears as she saw all of the people who showed up for Justin.

She allowed Scott to lead the way, and she stood next to him with a faraway look in her eyes as he greeted all of his teammates with a handshake, and they all gave her light hugs as they didn't even attempt to try and find the words.

"Jess is here." Scott whispered as they finished talking to his team, and Nessa nodded as she walked over to her best friend. Immediately upon being in her embrace, the tears started.

"Jess..." Nessa croaked, and Jessica just nodded. They could say everything that they needed to without saying anything at all. Ani joined in on the hug, trying her best to hold her friends together.

Nessa entered the church, holding onto Jessica as if she would fall down without the support from her. She watched as Alex entered, a broken look in his eyes.

"I'm gonna..." Nessa said as she gestured her head over to Alex, and Jessica nodded.

"Go." she encouraged her sweetly. "You need him right now."
