act two / monty was framed

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐘𝐌𝐍𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐔𝐌 𝐖𝐀𝐒 a sea of people after graduation. Old and current classmates flooded the building, and Nessa felt like she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off, greeting all of her friends and giving them final hugs and goodbyes.

"Smile!" Scott's mother called out as the two of them stood in front of her camera, arms wrapped around each other.

"Beautiful." she spoke wistfully once the photo was over, and Scott nodded, giving his girlfriend a soft kiss on the cheek. Scott's parents watched, taking note of the way that their son interacted with the girl that they had come to love so much.

They knew that in a few years, they would be watching him get down on one knee and asking her to join their family. And they couldn't be happier.

"I love you." Scott whispered in Nessa's ear, and she melted into him as she held onto him tightly.

"I love you so much more." Nessa whispered back, and Scott smiled as he let her go, feeling like the luckiest man in the world.

"Ness, that speech." Savannah, Scott's older sister, interrupted the two freshly graduated teenagers as she wrapped her arms around the girl. "You are one powerful woman."

"Thank you, Sav." Nessa replied as she returned the hug. Savannah truly felt like the sister that she always wanted, but was never able to have.

"Alright." Scott said, pulling Nessa out of his elder sister's strong embrace. "Give me my girlfriend back, Sav."

"Ugh." Savannah groaned, rolling her eyes at her younger brother. "You get her all the time, I want my visitation rights!"

"We have people to see!" Scott announced, and he intertwined his hand with Nessa's as they walked around the gymnasium. They found Scott's teammates, who all greeted him and Nessa with hugs. Diego and Luke had already pulled her aside with minimal tears in their eyes to thank her for the inclusion of Montgomery in her speech. She had told them it was no problem.

"I'm going to go talk to Jess and Ani, love." Nessa whispered to Scott as he nodded, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead before she walked off toward her two friends.

The two girls were standing at a table with Estela, where the three of them would be officially passing the HO torch to her today.

"Oh, perfect." Jessica said as she grabbed Nessa's wrist, pulling her into the group.

"So." Ani began, a smile on her face. "Mrs. Walker had some money she wanted to give away, so she is endowing HO."

Ani pulled the megaphone from Homecoming out from her bag, handing it to Nessa. She wanted her to do the honors of officially handing HO off to Estela, considering their close bond.

Nessa grabbed the megaphone, taking one last look at it as she remembered the chaos that it caused, before handing it to Estela, who took it with pride.
